Okay, I know that these were from a family comedy series and Meemaw surely wasn't meant to sound so sad and depressed and all that in the series. But I think I'd like to see her feelings in a deeper light.
Her relationship with Dr. Sturgis wasn't supposed to be very serious at first, and he wasn't particularly her type. But she was allured by his charm and the way he makes her laugh, and so many factors as well. Things escalated on a fair speed and they exchanged their I love yous. Sweet!
Aside from this, Meemaw is already an old lady. I am not saying older people do not have the right to fall in love. But in most cases, older people seem to be already in that phase where they know people just come and go and they get over it pretty quickly. Like, they've experienced a lot more in their lives. (Correct me if I'm wrong, I am pretty young myself so this might be just my perspective although I am not generalizing.)
Seeing Meemaw act like this, and hear some deep thoughts about relationships knowing her personality, makes us realize that she is just as passionate in love on her old age as she was before.
I guess what I really want to say is that
Love makes us young. Or better yet, love doesn't age.
PS. I am sorry if I somehow put a bit of a serious note on such a fun show. I really love this show! It's so warm and comforting but I think it's nice to be able to explore the characters on a deeper level on different episodes. Meemaw was clearly on a damper spirits, but so glad the episode shifted her tone together with Missy's!
