Muzan Kibutsuji 🍷🖤
-Rarely touches you, but when he does, it's deliberate and heavy with meaning. Like a handa t the back of your neck, or under your chin to control where you look
Likes brushing hair out of your face, not as tenderness but as ownership
If he's fond of you, maybe he lets his fingers linger at your wrist or spine in passing - almost as a silent you belong to me
Hotaru Hanegazuka 👺🧡
Deadass touches swords more than you. BUT his touches are practical and surpisingly intimate when he is openly affectionate wiht you!
Fixing your uniform collar, brushing dust off your shoulder, making sure your sword is at your hip
His "affection" shows up as him guiding your hands when helping with blades or giving your wrists a quick tug to drag you out of danger
If he gets flustered, he'll shove a sword at you like: "Here. I made this. Don't break it." (Receiving a sword from him is basically a hug)
Sometimes he even ruffles your hair while he's deep in thought and you're nearby
Yoriichi Tsugikuni ☀️❤️
Gentle, reverent touches. The type to cup your cheek like you're something holy.
Soft forehead touches or resting his hand against yours in silence
Rarely initiates anything more than that, but he carries a quiet sureness. Every touch feels like he's memorizing you
If he embraces you, it's grounding and absolute, like he's wrapping you in the calm of his soul (I would kill to get a hug from Yoriichi, I think it would cure all of my problems fr)
Always leading you when you're out in public! Whether its a hand on your back, or on your elbow, he will always be there to reassure you he's with you!!
He loves playing with your hair! Especially tucking it behind your ears or just running his fingers through it!
Sabito🌊💙
Playful, teasing touches. He'll flick your forehead, ruffle your hair, tug you along by the wrist
Shoulder bumps and smirks. Loves giving you a hard pat on the back to hype you up
But when he's serious? He pulls you close and doesn't let go, because beneath the bravado, he's starved for closeness.
The duality of "annoying little touches" vs "clling-on-for-dear-life hugs" is very him.
Speaking of being playful, he will shamelessly tickle you until you can't breathe (rest in peace Y/N).
Kanae Kocho 🌸🩷
Warm, nurturing touches. Arm loops, hand squeezes, forehead kisses.
Loves braiding or playing with your hair!! Touch is her way of grounding you both in beauty and comfort!
Will casually link pinkies or rest her head against your shoulder in conversation!!!
Every touch radiates "I want you to feel safe and cherished" (crying as I write this)
Sometimes she just loves hugging you tightly with her cheek against yours!
Following up on the last one, I feel like she will always hug you from behind.
She also loves resting her chin on your head!!!
Genya Shinazugawa 🔫💜
AWKWARD AS HELL. Doesn't know what to do with his hands
Accidental brushes that linger too long, then he blushes and mutters an apology
Eventually, he gravitates toward protective touches. Hovering his hand at your back, pulling you behind him in danger, gripping your wrist to steady you.
Hugging is...rare. But if he does hug you, he'll cling on tight like he's afraid you'll slip away.
I feel as though since he rarely hugs you, he definitely will press his forehead against yours, even if it's just briefly.
If he senses danger? He's automatically pulling you behind his back.
He tends to grip your wrist firmly whenever he's anxious because he wants to keep you close to him and keep you safe!

══💞══╡°˖✧💌✧˖°╞══💞══
First of all, it doesn't matter if you're the oldest or the youngest.
The eldest brother of the Kocho sisters is a quiet and reserved man who prefers to stay in the background and let his sisters shine.
Despite being the only man in the family, you feel comfortable surrounded by your sisters and enjoy their company. You have a very close relationship with them.
The night your parents died, you, being the eldest, managed to save Kanae, Shinobu, and your little brother, but at a terrible cost. You received a brutal injury that left you unable to fight as a demon slayer. Your body can't keep up with Breathing Style, but your spirit can.
You become the strategic and emotional heart of the Butterfly Mansion. You don't fight on the field, but from your wheelchair or with your slow gait, you are the tactician. You study demon reports, draw up plans, and are the voice of reason and calm that Shinobu sometimes needs to hear.
Shinobu is, ironically, overprotective of you.
She hates it when you expose yourself to any risk. Your arguments are legendary: you want to help more, she wants you to rest. She's the only one around whom her smile completely vanishes, revealing her genuine fear of losing you.
If you're the older brother, Shinobu developed her perpetual smile as a shield to protect you too. She hates seeing you worried about her. If you're the younger brother, that smile sometimes cracks only in front of you, letting you see the ocean of anger and pain behind it. You're her nonverbal outlet.
For Kanao, you are her first and most secure point of reference.
It was you who gave her the coin, not as a trick, but with a promise: "When you want to decide for yourself, just tell me. Until then, this will buy you time." You are her emotional anchor.
When you were very young, Kanae promised you that she would "never let you cry again." That, combined with the weight of being the eldest, propelled her to be the most protective and kind Pillar.
In the dark days following the tragedy, Kanae's lap was your absolute safe haven. She would stroke your hair and sing softly until you fell asleep. After her death, Shinobu inherited that song, though she only hums it when she thinks you are too sad and no one else can hear.
You were the human bridge that connected Kanao to her sisters. Before she could communicate with them, she communicated with you through glances, small gestures, or by passing you notes.
You understand her silence in a way that others don't.
Kanao never uses the coin on you. From the beginning, he felt he could trust your judgment, or that his decisions when you were involved were too important to leave to chance. It's a priceless honor.
When his sisters need support or advice, he's always there to listen and offer his wisdom and experience. He acts as a father figure and protector to them.
Despite being the eldest, he's neither domineering nor authoritarian. He prefers to guide them gently and give them space to make their own decisions.
Without fail, every afternoon there's a moment when you and Shinobu prepare tea together. It's a sacred ritual. You don't talk about hunts or sorrow. You talk about the flowers in the garden, a book, or simply remain silent. It's the moment when she ceases to be the Insect Pillar and becomes your sister again.
Kanae always left a sweet under your pillow when you had nightmares. After her death, Shinobu (and sometimes Kanao) secretly continue that tradition. Finding that sweet in the morning is a silent reminder that you're not alone. In this family, strength takes many forms. Shinobu's is her poison and her speed. Kanao's is her determination. Yours (whether you're the eldest or youngest) is your persistence, your intelligence, or your ability to hold the household together.
The Hashiras who visit the mansion, like Giyu or Kyojuro, deeply respect you for it.
If you're the younger pharmacist brother, there's a chance that the ultimate poison Shinobu carries in her battle against Doma had a crucial upgrade made by you. If you're the older tactical brother, you may have deduced Doma's true weakness from old reports and subtly hinted at it to Shinobu without her knowledge. In either case, your contribution is a key part of her revenge.
The anniversary of their parents' (or Kanae's) death. They don't wear mourning clothes. Instead, Shinobu, Kanao, and you all wear something pure white (an accessory, a ribbon), the color of the Swallowtail butterfly that Kanae loved.
They spend the day doing things Kanae loved: eating her favorite sweets, tending the garden of white flowers she planted. There's no talk of grief. They share happy, silly childhood stories, especially those where Kanae did something clumsy or funny.
It's not a day to mourn her absence, but to celebrate that her essence still binds them together and strengthens them. It's Shinobu's way of honoring her sister's wish for their happiness, and it's the three of them' way of saying, "We're still here, together, for you and for us."
unfortunately, I didn't add their adoptive sisters, Kanao or Aoi, they'll be in a separate one! Enjoy reading! ;*
Kanae ;
Kanae hate is so forced.
Kanae would be so gentle with you. She wouldn’t want to scare you off, but instead grow closer to you. She wants to know every detail about you, she’ll study you till she passes to your heart!
Kanae would test different boundaries to see if she’s ready for a relationship, she has to, she’s already got many sisters waiting for her at home every night …Would you feel the same? She would hate to worry you, she doesn’t like anyone sad, especially you and Shinobu.
She isn’t crazy about you, she has other properties, I think we forget she’s a Hashira. When she finally alone in the halls of the Butterfly estate, she’ll silently hum to herself, thinking about you. It isn’t just any tone though—maybe a song you like, a way a bird chirped its song or wind chimes blowing in the air creating a sweet tone will remind her of your laugh.
She’ll talk about her feelings for you with Shinobu, Shinobu (at the time) would’ve got a little jealous and draw a grin on her face as she lists the cons of you. Kanae will just stop for a moment, smile then giggle.
“ Awah … You know what Shinobu? When you and Y/N smile, they’re so sweet and just make my day! ”
If you’re a demon hunter, she loves to listen to your adventures, your missions and how your fight went. The more you talk, the more she’s falling in love with you.
Although she seems soft, when she gets more comfortable with you, she starts to tease you about your appearance. Of course nothing bad, just constant compliments of poetry. Like I said, she studies you so she’ll find ways to make you stop for second. You just got to know her humor!
When Kanao was younger, she would ask you for help to take care of her! Although, she didn’t need help, she just wanted to see how you are with kids, big thing by the way!
The day she died, she was heartbroken for many reasons with you being one of them. When she was in Shinobu’s arms, dying, she wanted to ask Shinobu if she can confess to you for her …But her last breath of words were in the heavens now.
Shinobu ;
Shinobu, my everything!
It’s so rare for Shinobu to have a love interest in someone.
I think she would act like her usual self—cheerful and calm but more delicate. She treats you with care first, like allowing you get first picks of whatever you like, whether it be medicine, food or beds, especially if you’re a demon hunter.
“ Ah, Y/N! Welcome- Oh my! What wound you got there! … Please, pick whatever bed you like! I’ll have the girls tend to you as soon as possible! ”
But… she does take off her mask around you sometimes without even noticing, such as losing the smile and becoming more of her past self when Kanae was alive, straightforward and quick to anger.
She’s a skilled young woman at hiding her true emotions, it’s hard to control this one (love) so sometimes it makes her loose focus, which piles up to another reasons to be angry.
She pushes her studies to the side to spend time with you …ONLY if they’re small projects she can get done within a day or a week. She needs all the time she can get before the next demon encounterment or the final battle.
Adding onto spending time with you, no matter how long it is, she makes the most of it. Kanae was the most precious highlight of her life and loosing her absolutely broke her, plus she lost her past tsuguko, and never wants to loose you! It’s strange to her cause she didn’t think having a crush would effect her this much.
If you have crummy mental or physical health, she’ll hover over you like a hawk to make sure your body gets rest it needs. Just like Kanae, she does this out of the kindness of her heart but also quizzing herself to see if she’s ready for a relationship.
If you take her by surprise, she’ll stop and start growing small butterflies in her stomach, get it?

"Aren't these beautiful?" You gasped out as you presented your boyfriend the glittering bouquet of roses. A beautiful collection in your favorite color and non-stick glitter—something he doesn't recall buying you.
"They're nice," He replies. His movements slowed as he slides his bag strap over his head and off of his shoulder. His eyes never left the bundle in your polished hands, and you were too busy oogling to notice, but his gaze hardened the longer he stared.
He didn't buy that for you, but they got here somehow. So, did you buy them for yourself? He decides to ask, "Did you buy those for yourself? If so, you didn't have to. If you would've told me, I could've bought that and more for you on my way home."
Your smile widens, "As always, you're the sweetest man I could've ever asked for," and you set the flowers aside at last, granting him the blessing to see your gorgeous, cheesing face as you walked up to him.
You leaned in, planting your lips to his slightly bandaged cheek, and for a moment, the boiling lava that had began to bubble at the base of his chest cooled as did his thoughts. It only lasted for a moment though, because as soon as you parted from him, you replied to his previous question.
"I actually didn't buy these myself. A coworker of mine did," And that simple response was enough for that volcano inside him explode all over again. Not that you could tell. On the outside, he seemed as calm as usual aside from the many veins flexing from his head that you didn't seem to catch.
"Oh really?"
You nod your head, "Mhm! But really I should've been the one to give them roses! They close up the restaurant for me all the time so that I don't have to risk the dangers of driving too late at night. Same goes for my shifts! Ever since they were hired, I haven't had to deal with late night weirdos!"
Obanai was nodding along, but not a single one of your words had processed in his head. His mind was on other things, other people—a certain cretin matching your description down to the tee coming to his mind and infuriating him so badly that one would think the lava inside of him would just boil right out through his pores and melt his skin.
But, of course, his voice gave away the exact opposite of what he was feeling when he spoke to you, "Say, love, is the coworker who bought you these also the one who walked you to the car last Friday?"
"Yeah! I'm glad you remember them!" You obliviously replied and he followed up with, "..And they're working the night shift tonight, right?"
"Yes..but why are you—"
"No reason," He simply said to you before leaning in and planting a bandaged, tender kiss to the side of your head, promptly ignoring the confused look you give him as he turns on his heel.
"I'm going out," He says, your favorite little snake beginning to peak from his clothes as he walked, grabbing his work bag filled with textbooks and graded papers in the process which only left you more befuddled.
"Huh, but you just got here.. Where are you going?"
"Don't worry, I won't be long. I'm simply in the mood for takeout. I'll be back with some for us in a little while."
"..Oh. Well, alright. Be safe!"
"Morning, Kanao!" You chirped after catching her in one of the many hallways of the Butterfly Manor.
At the lovely tune of your voice, her lips—which were moving since she was passing on Shinobu's instructions to a Kakushi—stilled. Her gorgeous lilac eyes seemed to noticeably sparkle as she caught a glimpse of you. Although it could've just been due to the lighting or your imagination..
As the Kakushi left, Kanao made quick strides up to you, her uniform's skirt, which she was still wearing having just got home, swaying with every little sway of her hip or movement of her thighs. She stops before you, allowing you to pull her in and squeeze the daylights out of her, all while wearing her usual smile.
"I'm so glad you made it back safely!" You said, parting from your crushing hug after a while, "And not a scratch on you! Hehe~!"
After you broke the hug, Kanao's eyes darted down, watching your lips move in a rapid succession as you began rambling about what you did last night. She was listening for the most part, but her eyes never left your mouth which she noticed was rather dolled up and coated by a unfamiliar, but pretty lipgloss.
It was a little darker than what you'd usually wear, but it still fits you perfectly as it contrasted your skin well and ultimately brought out your eyes more. Your smile too—she especially loved how it looked stained in that color.
"Ah-! Sorry! Did I start rambling?" You said upon the realization, your face beginning to grow hot from embarrassment.
"Look at me! You just got home and I'm already talking your ear off.." And then your lips dipped down into a small frown, which she'd be lying if she said didn't look just as pretty as your smile when all shiny like that.
As your lips parted to allow another apology to slip out, Kanao leaned in and captured them with her own. It caught you off guard, but on instinct, your mouth closed and only opened again when she eventually parted..
"I- Kanao.." You were at a lost for words. It wasn't often that she initiated stuff, much less kisses but..damn, did she look good with her lips coated in your new lipgloss.
..Oh, right! That's another reason you were excited to see her. You wanted to show her the new makeup kit you were given! Right! Foucs!
"Oh, Kanao! This really nice woman gave me a makeup kit for free the other evening while I was out shopping! She called me pretty and said it would suit me! ..Ah, but in the end, I still only have the courage to wear the lipgloss.."
"Do you.. Do you think I look as nice as the lady told me I'd look..?" You asked, semi-nervous. You couldn't help it. Even though you know there's a bat's chance in hell that she'd insult you, the possibility was still there. Not that it lasted very long. As soon as you finished talking, Kanao leaned in again, answering your question by deciding to cherish your lips in kiss so sweet, it put Mitsuri's pancakes to shame.
"Uhm..Inosuke. What exactly am I looking at?" You questioned as you stared at the ring in your palms which was currently staining your hands brown and let off a putrid odor.
"It's a flower crown! I made it myself!" He said proudly, puffing his chest as he did so. You couldn't help the way your brows knit together.
"Is that so.." You mumbled out, trying to find the right words to say about this..gift.
Flower crown, he said, but there's not a flower in sight. Just twigs forced together by wet, sticky mud. It was nothing like the pretty arrangement set atop your head right now that was given to you by Kanao and certainly not as nice smelling. Nevertheless, you stretch a smile on your face and tell him in the most convincing happy tone you could muster, "Thanks, Inosuke! I'll cherish it!"
Unfortunately for you, that doesn't seem to satisfy him. After you thanked him, he went silent, staring at you for a long while. You had to resist the urge to scratch your cheek and stain it with mud to alleviate the awkward feeling in your gut..
"What's wrong?" You asked, the color draining from your face when he told you, "Put it on."
"B- But, I already have a crown on," You said, your smile crinkling at the ends, "And two crowns would look silly.."
"Then take off that one," He said in a 'duh' tone of voice. Your smile wrinkles even more.
"Uhm..b- but if I do that..then the mud will melt away and I won't be able to wear again— Yeah!" You stammered, "I think Tanjiro said it'll rain soon! You spent so long working on this..uh- wonderful crown for me that I wouldn't want it to get ruined!"
Inosuke pauses, and for each second of silence that passed, the image of your head soiled by mud as twigs poked you became clearer and clearer. Luckily, the next words Inosuke says are just what you were praying to hear.
"I knew that!" He said, "Obviously, I was just testing you to see if you knew that it would rain soon!" And you sighed out a breath of pure relief as you nodded your head.
"Right, right.. Of course," You said, "Glad I passed the test then."
"And I promise, I'll wear it as soon as the rain passes," You ended up leaving it out by 'accident' in the end. Best part is that you had managed to stray so far away from the topic of the gift that Inosuke eventually forgot about it! ..Unfortunately, it was at the cost of the flower crown Kanao made you as you found it too risky to wear it around your boyfriend out of fear he'll remember that god awful mud crown.
"I'ma kill him!" Your boyfriend said, veins flexing from every angle of his face with nothing short of murder in his whited out eyes.
"Zenitsu," You called sternly, "Don't you dare." But it doesn't seem that he was willing to listen to reason. That said, you latched onto him as soon as he began walking. Nevertheless, Zenitsu was as determined as ever and kept trying to walk away. With you being physically stronger, however, he didn't get anywhere and was forced to walk in place.
"It's was just a kiss on the cheek. Plus he's a literal child," You said, causing the man you loved to look back at you with eyes of betrayal.
"Exactly! A kiss on the cheek! That squirt tainted my girlfriend's cheek with his lips!" He shrieked before his head turned as did his tone, changing to one much more aggressive as he said, "He needs to be dealt with!"
"No one is getting dealt with!" You yelled, "I'm not letting you hurt a kid who's done nothing wrong!" And you turned and began walking away, arm still tightly gripping your boyfriend's arm. Zenitsu had no choice but to be dragged away by you, steam practically blowing out of his ears as he caught a glimpse at the little boy who kissed you—who was laughing and grinning from ear to ear.
He's never wanted to dice someone up more in his life.
"Oh my," The drawled chime of your girlfriend's surprise was the first thing you heard when you stepped into the common room. It causes your eyes to wander, trailing over to the couch where Kanae was waiting for you with a smile on her face.
"I know it's been some time since we've last spent time together, but you didn't have to dress up for me. Not that I'm complaining," Her glossed lips parts, opening just enough for her to slide her cup between them. She then speaks, her voice bouncing around and vibrating the cup, making ripples in the tea inside, "There's nothing better than having a nice view while you drink or eat something, makes it taste ten times better!"
You could feel your skin being set aflame at her words, but you played it off in the best way you could; by giggling like a little girl.
"Well aren't you the smooth talker," You said as you walked up to her. Your hand reaching out to accept the cup she had begun to raise in your direction, "Are you trying to fluster me or something? If so, it'll take a lot more than pretty words."
"Not at all," She says, but her smile told you otherwise. Not that you cared enough to call it out, deciding to sit beside her instead, "But really, I'm surprised! That type of clothing isn't something you tend to wear after all."
"Shinazugawa bought it for me a while back. We were out on a mission togther and my clothes were in tatters by the end of the fight. Since it was raining, he took me to the first inn he could find and bought the first thing he saw at the market we passed through and told me to put it on," You explained, adding, "And that something happened to look like somehing out of a fairytale.."
"Is that so? He really did that?" She said, her voice pitching as her tone perked up, "He's come such a long way from that meeting! I'm so happy for him!" And then she takes another sip of her tea, "Next time I see him, I'll pass on my thanks to him for his kindness!"
"Pass on mines as well," You said, reaching for one of the many treats set on the table, "He went out on his next mission while I was changing so I never got the chance to."

The sounds of traffic and wheels on the road was all that filled the early morning air as you stifled a yawn threatening to leak out of your mouth. It was rather early but you promised to drive your Aunt to the airport the day after Halloween. You hadn't gotten much sleep the night prior staying late at the party and spending a lot of time removing glittery make up on your skin. On top of that you were going to be a little late for work because of said trip you had to take.
"Thank you so much for dropping me off, Hun. These late night readings are killing my posture," your aunt said stretching out an arm. "Now I know why women my age get grey hairs! HAHA!"
You rolled your eyes at her joke before slowly coming to a stop at a stop sign. A giant suitcase was behind her in the passenger seat and you were ninety nine percent sure it was mostly packed up with fliers and other business promotional things. Not something you thought would be taken to a wedding but then again you were talking about your aunt here. Nothing she did ever made sense.
"It's not a problem. And I did promise I would." Turning on your turn signal, you turned left going on down the road where you could make out the airport just a little bit aways. "When are you coming back?"
She waved a hand. "Two or three days from now. I'll call a taxi when I get back don't worry. I just appreciate you being nice enough to take me." She then smiled at you before reaching out to ruffle your hair like a kid. "You're a good kid. Now I can see why that big teddy bear likes you so much!"
"Not while I'm driving," you waved her hand off but smiled. "But I guess so. I feel so lucky to have him after everything that happened. It was like life finally decided to stop making me it's punching bag ....At least when it comes to dating."
The older woman smiled more. "He's a good one. I predicted a happy healthy like for you two."
"You mean when you read his palm without asking him first?"
She shrugged. "He didn't mind and everything I saw was predicable anyhoo- You still haven't let me read yours."
"Because I don't believe in those things no offense. Besides the last time you read my palm, you said I would 'be so beautiful many men and women will fall for me'." You rolled your eyes again putting on your turn signal again before slowly turning into the air port's parking lot. "And that was five years ago get it still hasn't happened."
"Give it time! My foresights always come true sooner or later." She smiled despite you sighing in response. "WHELP! Looks like I've got a date with the skies! See you in a few days!" She had just grabbed onto the car and was about to open it and step out-
"Wait!" In question she turned back around with a raised brow at you as you started patting down your clothes and frantically digging around in your pockets until you eventually pulled out something. Well a lot of somethings. "I need your help with something."
"Oh?" What she thought was a deck of cards, was actually..a deck of cards but not the playing card variety. It seemed to be a stack of business cards that was held up to her.
"There's someone who's loosing business really badly. He runs a dojo somewhere around here and I feel like I want to help him. I know you're pretty good at networking and know everyone there is..Do you think you can help?"
The softer eyes of the older woman eyed you in interest before glancing at the business cards. Taking them with a hum and eyeing the words inked onto their flimsy cardboard bodies... Before she smiled.
"I think I can do something with these. I'm surprised you want to help a stranger so badly."
You shrugged. "I don't know why I want to...it just feels like the right thing to do. Plus he's one of Gyomei's friends. It might be good to try and get along with them."
Your aunt hummed again and you flinched as she suddenly grabbed your hand. Looking at the palm very closely and her brows rising in some kind of realization. "Interesting."
"What is?"
"Oh, nothing.~" She giggled dropping your hand and waving you off. "Don't worry about a thing honey. Just leave everything to me. By the end of this month, everyone is gonna flock to ya!"
Your face turned to confusion. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Oh you'll find out soon enough. Oh. Look at the time! I better go before I miss my flight. You better get going before you're late too."
You hadn't the foggiest idea of what your eccentric aunt was talking about but shrugged it off as her being eccentric again. With he out of your car, you just made the long drive back home and to the college where you were unsurprisingly late and trudged yourself into the daycare tired and sore. Hopefully the children behaved especially good today so you wouldn't have to worry about anything else other than being scolded by your boss.
"You look sleepy, Ms. Y/n," one little girl pointed out as soon as you slowly walked into the large playroom trying to tie your apron in the back.
....Yeah. Today might be a very long day for you.
Unluckily the comment made by the little girl, whom you gently shooed to go listen to a story someone else was reading to other kids, was not missed by your boyfriend who looked up from where he was wiping glitter glue off a toy someone dropped on top of the arts and crafts table. You couldn't help the tired sigh that escaped you as Gyomei was quick to walk on over and you felt his form practically loom over you as his head tilted.
"You're tired." It wasn't a question, it was a statement that you winced at.
"A little bit."
"I thought I asked you to stay home if you didn't get enough sleep."
You waved him off despite the fact that he obviously couldn't see you. "I'm not gonna pass out. I'm just a little bit tired, and I have things to do today."
"Such as?"
Working? Getting today's notes from Giyuu, the project you have with him, and you promised to bake a few things for everyone. Not to mention grocery shopping, bills, cleaning up your house-
You jumped as a large hand suddenly tilted your head back up towards the staring white eyes. "None of that." He spoke as if he could literally read your mind. "After work I want you to go right home and rest. I'll inform Shinobu and Tomioka you won't be able to make the appointment today."
"W-What? But I promised them I'd do it with them not to mention that I also-"
A warmth presses against your head making you instantly turn red and a few little kids gagged and closed their eyes at the sight. One pointed at you both with a disgusted face.
"Ew, Mr. Mei! That's cooties!," she accused him to which he chuckled at her and smiled
"Perhaps so. But I meant what I said." You were wide awake now as he patted the top of your head. "Go home and rest. If you don't I'll just take your keys and carry you home myself."
"Yo-Yo-You're bluffing!"
He hummed. "Am I?"
You decided against wanting to see if he'd actually do that and quickly scurried away when one of the younger toddlers cried out in frustration at his building blocks falling over again and again. His chubby little hands and waddle walk keeping knocking over the blocks he did stack up again and again. You'd have to console him and played with the little guy to make sure he was having a good time.
Things weren't really too much different for the rest of the day. You did your job and helped to start clean up and check out the kids as their parents started arriving. However you didn't see Sanemi turn up. It wasn't even Kanae. Or Giyuu or Shinobu or even Mitsuri whom you were pretty good friends with by now. Instead you were treated to the sight of a tall and visibly muscular man whom walked in through the doorway. Orange hair framing his brightly smiling face and just as fiery eyes blinking around until they settled on you.
With a beaming smile he walked right up to you and you blinked as he stood before you. "HELLO, Y/N!!"
You winced at the high volume but still smiled. "Hi, Kyojuro." You greeted the positive man. "What are you doing here?"
"I've been sent to fetch Koto!," he proclaimed hands on his hips, "Sanemi's running late with his tutoring classes so he asked me to come get Koto for him!"
You blinked. "Really? I don't remember Sanemi telling me this and it's policy to call ahead of time for alternate pick ups."
His head tilted like an owl. "Really? He told the front desk lady this morning."
Oh right. You weren't here that morning. You held up a hand. "Let me go ask real quick. No offense. It's just part of the job."
"NO OFFENSE TAKEN!!"
You still chuckled despite yourself and left for just a few minutes. Confirmed with a coworker who was there that morning. And then returned a moment later with Koto on your hip and his daycare bag Sanemi always dropped off with him slung over your shoulder. The toddler was fiddling with a little car but let out a happy gasp upon seeing the red haired man.
"Ren-Ren!," he cheered throwing up his hands excitedly, "Hi!"
"Hello, Koto!" He greeted holding out his arms to the toddler. "Did you have a fun day?"
Koto was happily accepted into his arms with a nod. "Uh huh! Miss Toji reads us Beauty n da beast."
"Ooh. A fun story."
"Where's Nemi?"
"He's late, but I'm gonna take you to the park while we wait."
"YAY!!"
You chuckled at the adorable sight of him holding up the bag. "Here. You'll be needing this. How's Mrs. Shinazugawa by the way?"
"Thank you!" The bag was taken away from you before he again tilted his head in question. Like he seemed to be studying you for a second. "She is doing better. Still a little stressed about paying back everything, but eventually she will and everything will go back to normal for everyone involved. However I believe that you had a hand in her soon to be relief."
You blinked at him. "Oh. You mean the money." He nodded and you hummed. "Well like I told everyone else, he just needed it more than me."
"A thousand dollars and free food for an entire year are a hard thing to give up for most people..and yet you have it all away to a at the time complete stranger."
You winced. "That's not totally true. I-..I didn't really think about giving it to him at first. Really I didn't think of anyone else but myself at first but-.."
"But?," he asked raising a brow in question as you sighed.
"I dunno. I didn't really have a mom growing up so-"...You looked down fingers drumming on the countertop. "So I guess seeing him trying so hard to help his mom made me feel really sorry for him. Maybe it's something I'd wanna do too if my mom was around y'know..Uh.." You stopped when you saw him intently staring at you Koto mindlessly toying with his toy. "Uh. S-Sorry. Didn't mean to ramble on."
"Please. Do not apologize for the honesty. It's rare for someone to have an honest heart and even rather for them to admit things we may not be proud up." His smile got even wider if that was possible. "I can now see why you were able to make such great friends with everyone. You're a good person!"
Despite yourself a small pink appeared on your face, hand waving at him. "Shucks. Stop it. You're embarrassing me. Oh. That reminds me. How's your dad doing? Anything change?"
He shook his head. "Not yet but a few of Senjuro's classmates have shown interest in the dojo! We just have to remain optimistic and keep working at it!"
Ah. So your aunt hadn't worked her magic yet. Makes sense. It hasn't even been a whole day yet...Eh. you really shouldn't expect results to just happen like that. It was as unrealistic as her predicting that men and women would fall for you like some badly written fantasy story.
You nodded. "We gotta look on the bright side of things for sure! Anyways it was nice to see you again, Kyojuro. I hope to see you again sometime."
"INDEED! And thank you again for those delicious cookies! Everyone loved them!"
"Cookies?"
"Not for you I'm afraid!" In one movement the energetic man turned on his heel towards the door. "Now come! The swing sets and slides await us!"
"Yay! Swings!"
You couldn't help but laugh at the goofy man as he left with the giggling child. He certainly was a bright fellow. Everything would be ok. You were sure of that. Even if your efforts did nothing, surely the Rengoku's would be able to get by well.
Days passed by.
The October fall being kissed goodbye slowly as the leaves still fell and gave way to that weird time of the months of November where the cool of fall was merging with the soon to be cold of winter and snow. Jackets, scarfs, and mittens were already being seen on so many walking around.
It was on one of these days that a slow miracle was creeping up to its unsuspecting gift-y. Not quite a Christmas miracle but it'll do in a pinch for what was to be taken place that evening. A hot bowl of soup and a little bit of rice was always a quick and nice meal for a cold night like this. The kind of meal that'd help to cheer him up and reminded him just how much he loved his wife's cooking when the tray was placed in front of him and a warm kiss was pressed to his lips for a second.
Smiles were always his favorite part of her. Couldn't get enough of it as she smiled at him. "Here. I made some miso soup today. It ought to help you warm up after all the work you did."
Hard work? If you can call cleaning a barely used dojo and moping around all day hard work. He would've laughed at himself if he hadn't felt so frustrated with himself right now. Instead he kept quiet and pulled the bowl closer to him muttering a barely audible thanks. Her smile slowly gave way to a sad frown before she sighed and turned away. Slowly allowing herself to start preparing her own meal and a second tray for her youngest boy. She'd take him a meal as he was busy studying for a few exams before the Christmas break.
The scooping of hot soup sloshing around in the pot was only paused when the distant sounds of a familiar beeping noise cascaded through the air. Catching her attention and only making her husband grunt again.
"Are you going to answer that?"
She didn't answer him. Letting the ladle spoon plop back down into the soul with a watery noise and quickly making her way towards the den where no doubt the home phone was ringing out for someone to answer it. It was not too long before the cold plastic was picked up from the receiver and help up to her ear.
"Yes?"...Red eyes blinked. "Oh? I wasn't expecting a call from you. Is everything alright?" Her head turned around back towards the man still lazily picking at his soul with a spoon and not eating it. "Yes....Alright then."
Pitiful eyes didn't look up from the sloshing liquid of the soup even as footsteps approached back softly or even when he saw a pair of legs stop at his side out of the corner of his eyes. But he did blink as something was held out to his face. Took him two seconds to realize that it was a phone, and it took him one more second to look back up to his wife in question.
"Dear, it's Mr. Ubuyashiki."
A blink. "Who?"
"He's the chairman of Senjuro's school." The phone was nudged closer to him. "He wants to talk to you."
What? He grunted looking annoyed. "So? What does he want? If Senjuro's done something then-"
"Dear, please just speak to him."
There was a small three second pause before with an annoyed look the phone was taken from her and reluctantly held up to his ear. "Yes?"
"Ah! A different voice!" The voice of the phone was a man's. Clearly one he's never heard before. "Am I to assume that this is the husband of my wonderful calligraphy teacher?"
"What do you want?" He wasn't in the mood for the cheery bull that this voice seemed to have.
"Straight to the point then I see! Then I won't beat around the bush." The voice chuckled but gained a more professional feeling with it. "I heard that you are quite a coach!"
...Another blink. "What?"
"Recently I attended a little celebration of a good friend's son. Your name happened to be on a little business card handed out to me and I was reminded of your son. Polite young man he is."
"What is the point to this? Either spit it out or I'll hang up!" He REALLY was not in the mood to be talking to a man that liked to make random small chit chat even with the stern frown his wife was giving him.
"Of course," the man remained polite and patient despite his annoyance. "It reminded me of the petition Senjuro presented to me a little bit ago to start a kendo club. Usually I wouldn't mind clubs but one of our biggest school sponsors thought it would be a great idea to have an official kendo league added to our school. Frankly I couldn't agree more."
Huh. So his youngest finally did something worthwhile huh?...Guess that was good for him but-
"What does that have to do with me?"
"Well naturally if we're to add kendo to our track and other sports teams we'll be in need of a coach to teach said sport." He completely froze at his words. "But unfortunately we have none."
The world seemed to slow down as the silence continued to stare off at nothing. His throat suddenly felt dry as he swallowed thickly in order to not let his neck to become a desert. "What..are you getting at?"
"Mr. Shinjuro I've heard quite a good deal about you from your wife and others. I'd love to hire you as one of our new sports coaches starting next semester! And have you coach our new established kendo team if that's an option for you."
CLINK. CLI-CLINK.
Ruka blinked as the spoon dropped from her husband's hand and clattered to the table flinging small droplets of miso soup around the oak wood surface. Her brow rose higher at the wide eyed stare he seemed to have. Like he just saw a ghost.
too sleepy to think of kny ideas but we will let you know as soon as we have some
maybe on theme some sleepy hcs with Kanae? we like kanae a lot
cws & notes: no warnings! platonic kanae & gn!reader. fluff. 300+ words. hehe i hope you enjoy!
⤷ KANAE would find your sleepy self absolutely adorable. she notices as soon as your eyelids start drooping and yawns start slipping past your lips, and immediately breaks out into a smile. she'll poke your cheek, playfully chiding you for being so tired.
⤷ "what is it? am i so boring that i'm putting you to sleep?" she'll shake her head in mock disapproval. it's all light-hearted though; she's observant enough to see the dark circles under her eyes, and the quiet exhaustion in every action you take. "oh, you're absolutely worn out, aren't you?"
⤷ don't even try to deny it, she sees right through you. you can try to pull the 'i'm not even that tired!' or the 'it's not late enough to sleep!' excuses, but one stern look from her shuts you up.
⤷ if you're lucky and she's not busy, she'll be kind enough to let you take a nap on her. just let her guide your head into her lap and settle into a comfortable position, and you'll be cozy enough to fall asleep in no time.
⤷ she'll run her hands through your hair if it's long enough, making little twists and braids, before detangling them and starting again. it's something she used to do with shinobu when she was young, then kanao, and now you. the motions are repetitive and soothing—to her, as well as you.
⤷ in the end, her voice does put you to sleep. there's something about how gentle it is, softly singing in your ears like a lullaby... and oh, you've already fallen asleep. she'll keep talking to you, even after you drift off, just quietly chattering about nothing in particular. she doesn't mind that you can't hear her, she's mostly talking to herself anyway.
⤷ when you wake up, she still hasn't moved from her position, even if she's starting to nod off herself. once she sees your eyes open though, she'll snap to attention with her usual gentle smile. "did you have a good rest, sleepyhead?"
