Thoughts on first eps of LoM since you said you started watching it??
SO I AM AROUND EPISODE 5 OF LIFE ON MARS, and i am not rushing it but that doesn’t specify my not liking it. like if i had to rate if on terms of fav. k.dramas then it would be shelved at a 7/10. for now, so into more of a review the first episode caught me by surprise the whole case in that first episode had me in fear, the actor who played the criminal was really terrifying almost like he could leap off the screen and just mess you up. in that i wanted to pull into these characters , pull back their skin and really see what drives them. jung kyung ho really portrayed tae joo inability to really socialize or his lack of want to socialize really well, while jeon hye bin was really clever in the way she empowered jung seo hyun because she made her not the typical sense of strong were physical strength is always needed, but gave her character a charm and wit to really disarm a person. the whole end of the first episode with her missing, and tae joo on the chase to the car crashing into him was amazing.
going on to the next episode the disorientation tae joon was feeling for being thrown back into time, to his hellucatutating that a regular man was the criminal he was after was done well. i like the way our past characters as i call them in group form were introduced , they had jobs and they personalities. i was glad that they put light on ko ah sung’s yoon na dealing with sexism and stuff but going on the episodes feel dry almost as though they are just moments to move tae joon overly sad story a long. park sung woong’s dong cheol just feels like brute that tae joon has to change with his future understanding, and though yoon na can fight she is just tumbling along without any real change in terms of her treatment as a women. like a lot of the time tae joon just stands around in my opinion and it just feels like okay why bring some one from the future if only he’s going to reap some benefits as tae joon is in terms of his family and the cases around that.
i am so pissed of about dong cheol cause it seems to me that he’s just there to be comedy and the character people can kind of just be like ooo he’s such a brute, and such a man of his time with police brutality, i don’t think he’s going to get any fundamental development like his family is a device to keep him tied down, but never will he get the explanation other characters will. and i feel angry cause park sung woong deserves better then just being that guy.
i feel the writing is rushed, like they want to be episodic but they don’t give the depth to the cases, their tackling when they are taking on some big cases like the little girl being raped by the village head. there is no real tackling of the issues of the time tae joo has been sent back to and there is no real depth that i’ve seen so far in the other leads.
like i love that tae joo is the serious, yoon na is the kind, and dong cheol is comedic, but when only one really gets a story and the other’s are just parts to move his story on , while being billed as main leads i am just like eh. but who knows it might be more explored as the story goes on.
