actually might change the "is a tiger turns into a turtle" into a "is a turtle turns into a tiger" cus first of all while i love kapplan's shell design, (which you havent seen cus its in my sketchbook) i feel like we need a little variety out here and i do love me some tigers (i say like its not obvious) but there is one glaring issue

why in the world would Draxum have a tiger laying around in his lab

like Draxum picking turtles would make sense if Kapplan was a turtle cus that means he looked at his childhood bestfriend that survived the horrible incident and that eventually turned into a great warrior and thought "yeah, my warriors shall be turtles aswell" which is gay asf but really poetic

and also would make Kapplan learn mystics first and then martial arts make more sense, since hes a turtle and all that

and would be a nice parallel (or even precognition) of Spilnter since Kapplan would be a turtle yokai and then turn into a tiger yokai but have turtle daughters which i assume would be viewed weirdly by the yokai community, mainly since he is a single girldad

also would make like 100% more sense of his name being Kapplan which is basically the word kappa, like its not his parents fault that he eventually turns into a tiger (kaplan in turkish) and makes it look like fate (and also the hidden city is always like asian adjacent in my eyes so like turkey counts guys come on)

but im still indicisive since the first concept was tiger turned into turtle yokai and at this very moment i am having many issues with Kapplan's tiger design than i did with his turtle one (which is probably since ive been drawing anthro turtles since 2021 and its like the first time ive drawn anthro tigers)

so Kapplan's like a teacher in a dojo or smth right and he's a well known fighter in the hidden city and respected but he always refuses to get into the battle nexus

anyways Kapplan and Draxum were from the same town in the surface a couple hundred years ago, but it got attacked by humans and both lost a lot but while Draxum wanted to kill all humans, Kapplan was less original and decided to only be scared and kinda agrees with the whole hidden city council thing they have

they also trained alchemy together from Draxums mother that died rip and then Draxum kept at it in like mystic university or smth but Kapplan did more martial arts and then owned a martial arts dojo thingy

When he turns into a turtle it was a less perfected version of the ooze that Draxum made and, in the begining of his reaserch he didn't think it was a bad thing so he asked Kapplan if he could help him choose and carry 2 little turtles back to his lab and Kapplan agrees cus he's a cutie pie and also cus Draxum and him sparred sometimes and are kinda-but-not-really friends but Draxum accidentally hits Kapplan with the ooze while showing him and both him and the turtles get covered in stuff so kapplan turns into a turtle and the turtles gets human-like characterists wait you guessed it thats BETH !! and Venus! But hightlight on Beth my bestest girl ever you will hear about her so much more
