Sorry for this sudden question, but did you and Vyc ever think of names in Kardasi for days, weeks, months, and maybe minutes and hours? I don't have knowledge on making conlang stuff though I love the emotional use of languages in stories, and your guys' Kardasi is my fave and easy to make words if you guys made the needed ones for...but not as thought out with deeper meaning like you guys do, the ones I've strung together are just 'word+ending suffix' lmao

I’ve found so many resources on the Cardassian language for fics, but need to create some praising terms through combining word roots—curious if folks have ideas.

Imagine an instructor to a student, or a mentor to mentee. Or… things that would make an eager CMO blush. I’ve got some ideas; any crowd favorites?

vesstUl: good boy/child (general praise, can be derogatory if said to adult)

atveperrik’l: doing a good jobas one with lesser status (sexual connotations)

tasperenij: intelligence without limit (clever)

te’hrem’li : confident in one’s training/knowledge (‘cocky’, teasing tone)

luUkhos: one with obvious skill

levr’atir: ‘understander of anything’ (affectionate nickname)

hoslevZef’ec: fast learner (salacious wordplay for a “receptive” mind…

Haritvri’a: a water drinker, or in Terran, slut. Inspired by Orchidlocked's Garashir and Cardassian Headcannon filled Fics. Vyc&Tin Kardasi

Irc’ok: Moon Beam But because there was a word yet for moon, there was a suffix so I used that instead. Garak calls Julian his Moon Beam, which I also wanted to imply the Blind Moon. Julian is his beam from the Blind Moon and they were meant to be. Vyc&Tin Karadsi.

A’vre: Akin to ‘Bastard’. using Vyc&Tin’s word for filth.

Sicus’te’i: Enjoined (married partner). There was no word for it, so I took the base word and put -’i, like I’ve seen used in the send of ‘my’/’mine’ in another word by Vyc&Tin Kardasi

Ss’bar’alhi: Holder. Protector. Guardian. The one who holds another’s everything; one who is entrusted to protect their other half; they who was all and everything needed. Vyc&Tin Kardasi

E’zIra, e’zIra he’ kret ka re’mitkaderb men’harit. Ka a’vre!: Rough translation of ~I love you, I love you and need you like the flower who reaches for water. You bastard.

Mitka’wen— From mitka (Plant; used for Floral words such as Flower, Garden/er, and leaf) and wen (Small). Used here as a nickname akin to “ Small Flower”. Vyc&Tin Kardasi

Vit'ol — ejaculation/semen. Mix of seed (Vit) and life (Ol’lo, but only one part because it felt funny to me to add the whole term). Vyc&Tin Kardasi More To Be Added As Made

Oooookay I’m trying to wrangle a bunch of Kardasi language resources into one place for reference — I know there are so many peoole working and contributing to this — can you tag yourself and/or reblog if you’re working on this or have added words, found words, organized them, thought about them, ? Even if it’s something you think is obvious or that everyone knows about. There are several referenced sources from the working tinsnip/vyc dictionary that I can’t locate, have been archived or disappeared from the internet etc ... trying to dig them up ... I’m old...

I’m working on a new longer post-canon Cardassia piece that is going to require me to add a lot of new words & phrases in and, well, I’m feeling the magic. So I want to ✨be a part of it all✨ so send me, tag me, point things out to me 🌘much appreciated! 👀

Hey! I haven't watched ds9 in ages, but I recently got some nice comments on an old abandoned fic so I'm back in trying to finish it (or at least make progress). With that said, is Kardasi the name of the Cardassian language? The wiki just calls it "Cardassian Language." I found a tumblr blog that used "Kardasi," but I figured you'd know as the resident Cardassian expert.

I always go by Kardasi, though that is pretty much exclusively fanon. I believe the term was coined by @tinsnip and @feltalures for their conlang. I tend to use a mix of their take on Cardassian language and some of my own devising, but I just think the term Kardasi sounds nice and natural for a species with (presumably) reptilian ancestry.

Guys I need help. Any idea how I can find some Kardasi words? Like made up is fine but I know some people in the fandom are like inventing Kardasi and I would love that.

The words I would actually like to see would be ‘father’ (which I know has a fandom word for) and ‘flower’!
