Very slowly but surely working on a ASIT inspired piece. I need something to help me process all my thoughts and feelings about this beautiful book and more beautiful protagonist.

(Besides obviously Garak, also featuring Mila the regnar, the oralian recitation mask, edosian orchids and a little Doctor Bashir there somewhere 🤭)

The idea is to finish this traditionally, probably pencil colours, maybe I'll take a shot with watercolours again.

One thing I’ve always wondered that I don’t think I’ve ever seen answered, how early in the development of the Dominion did you decide that Cardassia would become a member? Was the takeover by the civilian government part of setting that up or just a useful element you could retroactively use to help justify it?

I remember Ira and the rest of us discussing having Cardassia eventually join the Dominion pretty early in the process of developing the Dominion arc. We all saw it as the best way to keep Cardassia in general and Gul Dukat in particular as an antagonist. So more or less right from the start. We didn't have the exact mechanics figured out at the time, but we knew it would eventually come down to Dukat since we always saw him as our main antagonist and wanted to maintain that. Gul Dukat was too good a character and Marc too good an actor to just toss by the wayside for a new enemy.

I started reading the 100+ page supplemental book on the Alpha Quadrant for Star Trek Adventures, and Cardassia Prime actually made my jaw drop as someone who is intimately familiar with the difference between the air temperature and apparent temperature/heat index.
