What's the oldest in age range for ballerinas or Meg? In some casts, there seem to be a few that stay with the show for a long time, particularly the ballet swings. Seems like a harsh thing to say, but do you ever think that it should be time to move on for some who no longer look the part of young aspiring ballerinas of the opera house?
I think it’s the same as with Christines: if they look the part on stage, in costume and wig, with stage makeup, and if they act the role in a believeable manner… then that’s all that matters to me.
I do find it extremely charming and impressive if the Meg is in fact young and a promising performer in real life - Paloma Garcia Lee in the US Tour, Tehilla Blad in Stockholm. But it’s a nice plus rather than how it MUST be for all Megs.
I don’t know how old the oldest Meg has been. I suspect Heather McFadden, if only because she started out as Meg in 2000, and must have been in her early/mid 20s then. She finished her run on Broadway in 2012. So 12 years on and off in the role, and well into her thirties?
The youngest should be somewhere between Karin Seyfried in Vienna (16 when cast), u/s Neve Campbell in Toronto (15 when the production opened, but unsure if and when she got to perform the role of Meg) and Paloma Garcia Lee (17 when joining the US Tour).
