I am in desperate need to write an essay for something to do with Phantom
emmy rossum as christine daaé and jennifer ellison as meg giry in the phantom of the opera (2004)
One of the few things that go from my tiktok to my tumblr.
The first couple of characters named in the book.
NO CUZ WHY DO WE NEED TO KNOW HIS FULL AHH GOVERMANT NAME
The section btw:
"The Comte de Changy, standing up in his box, listened to all this frenzy and took part in it by loudly applauding. Philippe Georges Marie Comte de Chagny was just forty-one years of age. He was a great aristocratic and a good-looking man, above middle height and with attractive features, in spite of his hard forehead and his rather cold eyes"
then it just continues to describe him.
But like it just is like a mic drop thats never ever discussed again.
What if there was a period of time in the LND-verse where Erik and Meg had actively collaborated together? Where they both surprised themselves by enjoying the experience? Where slowly they both developed feelings for the other? And the reason Erik suddenly reached out to Christine after ten long years and obsessed over the opus he wrote for her was because he was horrifed at feeling something for a woman who was Not Christine? Maybe Meg approached him with her feelings, or maybe he suddenly noticed them in himself -- and he panicked. Because he centered his whole identity around loving Christine, he couldn't stomach the thought of feeling that way about another woman, and so threw himself anew into his obsession.
I find that scenario a lot more interesting than the one-sided infatuation Meg had for a man who did nothing but ignore her the whole time like we got in canon. Nothing can make me like her ending in LND, but this at least gives her something concrete to point to that explains why she was so drawn to him. And maybe why Erik pointedly ignored and shunned her once Christine showed up.
How about after the performance, Christine isn't the only who finds a letter? At the same time she reads Raouls' goodbye to her, Erik reads Meg's to him: she leaves to start her own troupe. And instead of the tragic melodrama of Christine dying in his arms, we get a Graduate-style Hello darkness my old friend fade-away where both Christine and Erik sit next to each other in her dressing room each feeling a bit...empty...
Get you a girl who can be both Meg and Christine
Megstine au while it's still Pride: Peter Pan ballet with Meg as Peter and Christine as Wendy.
You did not just catch Meg Giry rifling through the letters on the managers' desk.
