It’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted, and I still do not have the means to play yet, but here are some AC doodles of the Team LunarWind boys to hold y’all over~ 8′’D
The Betrayer: Part III - The Martyr, The Hero, The Savior
I've been trying to think of how to finish this segment off without revealing too much of the story, and without letting go of one of my favorite parts, I think i'll talk about it more when i get to the character "The Lover" but for now i'll keep it a secret, let's just say Karono is disgusting, vile, and evil as shit, but for now let's talk more about his goals.
Karono wants nothing more than to show his friends how evil the darkness truly is, and that by using it they're promoting it's evil ways. he's tempted by the darkness for his lack of powers, and his human weakness, and jealous. Karono knows that nothing from the darkness can ever be used for good, and he intends to prove this. He accepts his dark gift and begins stalking the party, picking them off one by one, showing them how powerful he's become. At this point in time Aiden is nowhere near as strong as Karono, since he's had more combat training obviously, and is now seeping off dark energy. Karono's only goal is to humiliate Aiden, make him seem less heroic, and prove that he's just a catalyst for the darkness, and to show everyone that he's being tempted, by the villains and will be used in the coming end of days to kill everyone. or at least that's what he believes.
I've always thought about how the final battle should end, whether Aiden wins and kills his best friend, or maybe Karono wins finally becoming this Martyred hero he's always thought himself to be, maybe no one wins, and they fight to their own deaths. in each fight Karono see's himself doing the world a favor by killing Aiden, Aiden has been corrupted by the darkness; Aiden thinks he's doing the right thing in saving the planet, but Karono knows better, he understands that if they rebuild everything from the ground up they can creat paradise. Karono hates the darkness, but he uses it as his only means to defeat Aiden. now that i think about it Karono seems more like Venom in a way or at least the new venom (flash thompson) but evil, or is he, is he in the right to fight his best friend to save the world, is Aiden being controlled by some unseen force to let the world strive on. Is Aiden really a hero? Is Karono a Martyr? these are all interesting things to look at.
It's sad that i can't (or more so won't) say anything else on Karono's character since it would spoil a lot of the story, and since it's not in any shape to be read I don't want to give out too much, or even anything that might not make the final cut, I also apologize for making this a bit jumpy, a lot of ideas have been running through my head about this character, and not enough is on paper to really tell for certain.
The Betrayer: Part II-Jealousy, Anger, Hatred
Karono was initially supposed to flip sides after his turning to the dark side which would have happened right before act three. But since I lost my best friend to a stupid fight, i could no longer see the character the same I started thinking of ways to turn him back, but it no longer felt comfortable; I was betrayed, i was left alone with no one, and that's exactly how i wanted it to be.
Karono's backstory is a little more tragic however, I still want the readers to sympathize with him, and even begin to agree with his choices a little. When he was a child his parents were both killed protecting their village, Karono saw his parents murdered by the by a dark figure, and in a fit of rage threw himself at the him; when he struck the figure the man barely budged he just looked down at the small child and smiled as he walked away. Karono for the past 10 years has been doing nothing but trying to find this man, and kill him for what he did to his city, to his family, and to his friends.
Karono now much older is the leader of the Vanguard of Light; a military in the city of Litheria (Where most of the story takes place) he has worked his way up to become this new man strong enough to face anything even the black figure. his next mission given to him by the queen was to track down a man she has been having frequent dreams about, and bring him to Litheria for safe keeping. Karono at the time had no idea that the man he was getting was his child hood friend Aiden, whom Karono thought was dead.
When Karono brings him back Aiden is suddenly showered with praise and love from the queen. He immediately is granted special privileges, and perks; also he's being trained by S.I.N to control his new found power. This makes Karono a little upset. he worked hard for what he's earned, and now Aiden is just handed all of these responsibilities; and this continues. When Aiden and the group find the second weapons (two weapons in this world control both light and darkness) Karono sees this as a plague, and believes the dark sword shold be destroyed for good, while the light sword should be used to vanquish all forms of darkness. Aiden disagrees, and this becomes a center point of their rivalry.
Karono believes that nothing born from the darkness can ever be considered good, he believes with everything in his body, that light is pure, and incorruptible. He views darkness as a disease that only the light can cure, When he sees Aiden using both to help people it starts messing with his mind. he's never seen the darkness used this way, it's not right to him. everyone starts calling Aiden the hero. the girls love him, He has a beautiful woman at his side; and Karono has nothing, he thinks himself just a sidekick, and it fucks with his ego.
at the end of the first act the big bad is revealed to be the same man who killed Karono's parents, and destroyed his city, His goals are simple; Revenge. he at one point is strayed away from the party and is confronted by the big bad who offers him the power he desires, he offers him a way to become better than Aiden, a way to save this world and become the hero he's always wanted to be. Karono at first declines, and then realizes he's nothing without a power, everyone on the team is unique, except for Karono. everyone used some form of Darkness for good, and it wasn't right, Darkness is Evil. no good could come from it. and with this power Karono will show the world, how evil it truly is.
The Betrayer: Part I- Friends of old
The basis of Karono started off as a side character who eventually grew into what would have been a Second main character. at one point in the story Aiden (the main character) would dissappear from the world, and Karono's story would then begin. Karono was always the big brother Archetype; always looking out for Aiden and the rest of the party. His journey would be short, but it was to give some relaxation from Aiden, some time away from the main protagonist for this new- gritty, older, wiser, stronger one. At the time i related him to my best friend from high school,(he and I were inseparable throughout, we always hung out, we played games, watched anime. he always had my back) Later on i figured what if this second protagonist had a Heel turn. in the middle of act two when everything seems smooth, the Hero is going to save the girl and stop the baddies, what if The best friend Turned.
This Idea i have to admit was only thought up after playing through Kingdom hearts 1-2 So i guess you could say Karono is Riku v1.2 i took a lot of themes from KH 1-2 but this one specifically, because Riku was a tragic hero if you remember correctly. Karono I wanted to have a similar feel. In the begining he was this strong powerful independent leader. But in the middle of act 2 he is drawn to the Dark side, the power he wants, and the woman he can never have begins to drive him crazy, and when the Big Bad comes by and offers him UNLIMITED POWAH! he takes it, wanting to feel needed, and stronger than Aiden. this would go on for some time, then toward the middle of Act 3 Aiden and Karono would fight, and everything would be resolved. Karono would realize he was a dick, make a selfless sacrifice to give Aiden the upperhand to stop the Big Bad, and ultimately be the Hero he's always wanted.
The End-
But, things don't always work like that, friends don't always realize, or even care when they're being dicks, or just mean. What if they truly believe they're right in every way. What if things never get resolved. My Best friend and I stopped talking after moving in together failed miserably. we got into a huge fight over material values, and just anything and everything. I lost my best friend, and also everyone we hung out with. for the first time since i moved, I felt alone, and hurt, I began drinking almost everyday. I started pushing everyone away from me, I became secluded, and depressed. I was left alone, and I was horrible. I finally found friendship with a group of others i met at work, and let's just say things are fine now, but this part of my life changed me for better or worse, and with this I knew what i had to do.
