omg kez, i’m absolutely gonna need to hear more about the soap x enemy!reader painful masterpiece you’re cooking up 🤲
Ask and you shall receive, Diana 🫶🏻
Before I give you some of the lines you'll find in the next three chapters of ends lie still, there's a little something I have to confess. And I am putting it in your ask because I think we both suffer through writing smut, and I found it kinda funny.
When I said I had not written anything for chapter two of ends lie still, that wasn't exactly true. I did try to write the back alley blowjob scene and it went perhaps ever so slightly wrong.
My weak point in writing is dialogue. I can't do dialogue for shit, so whenever I'm writing I try to actively include as much dialogue as I can to fix that. So I tried to add dialogue to the scene I was writing and, uhm, pro tip: remember the principles of human anatomy--you can't talk with dick down your throat and neither can your characters. Thank me later.
As for lines:
"We would've been good together, ye'know," that's all it takes to get you to bite. Quite literally at that. You do not know how to soothe a situation, so you resort to what used to make him shut up. You don't know if that's changed. You don't want to know.
He loathes the implication that anything he has ever given you was love; even more than you resent the implication that you've allowed him to drag the two of you that low. You are about to be dragged even lower, though, with no possibility of return--never, not with him anyways.
What else had you to bring before the eyes of the all-seeing but this lamb of yours; this sacrifice of his?
I wish I could provide some more profound insight, but alas, my head is recharging the braincell.
if you have anything additional to tell us about the DA wip, i’d Love to hear it. also, the wip lone prairie chapter !!! ♥️♥️
DIANA❤️I WILL ALWAYS HAVE STUFF TO SHARE. everyday is a struggle to restrain from rambling about my ideas lskdfj
I'll start with lone prairie as it's quite short. SO i have two things on the go for it. One is a series of short vignettes of our dear doctor giving Gaz some basic wound care/medic instructions as he's interested in learning. Timeline wise, this would take place after Price and her graveside chat, but before the mine collapse. The other one I'm working on is the next chapter, a direct continuation of the events of the mine collapse. Here's a snippet!!
The slapdash escape from the mine has you precariously in his lap, both atop the horse he had stolen. Each jarring step sends spikes of pain through your weak and aching frame. You shiver against him, and in your half delirious state, find you don't mind the warmth of his broad chest.
“Take me home.” You mumble into him.
He tenses, readying for a fight. Beneath you, the horse slows.
“I c-can’t die. Not here. Don’t let me die, please I need to go back-” Your feverish babbling rises in pitch. Mr. Price grabs your jaw, stilling your tongue and forcing you to look at him.
Anger, fear, and something beyond your addled understanding stares back at you.
That's all I got for lone prairie! More rambles about my DA wip under the cut.
So, a bit of background to the fic and setting: in very Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell fashion, magic isn't illegal but proper high society is only supposed to theorize on it. maybe perform a few approved spells here and there. You're not getting killed or thrown into a Circle for it, but you will be considered a social pariah. Depending on the spell, you might even get fined, so if you're wealthy and influential enough, it isn't a punishment that matters.
The Lavellan family, after enduring years of rumour and gossip due to the so-called curse, are now firmly on the outskirts of high society. The fact that our main character (Adahleni Lavellan) has dug her heels in and is boldly studying the curse and it's connection with the Veil has caused constant strife with her peers and family. Despite this, she has been apprenticed to the Lavellan's Keeper , who is teaching her magic beyond that of what she can learn academically.
So there's still magic, elves, gods, and demons, it's just that it's in a more victorian setting.
🍄 ⇢ share a head canon for one of your favourite ships or pairings
ghost keeps soap's favorite gas station candy in his glovebox so when they drive home together from base totally exhausted it's just ghost trying not to fall asleep at the wheel and soap feeding him occasional bites of twizzler
🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing
i think i could do a little better on scene building - I struggle between trusting my reader to fill the gaps themselves and over-illustrating a scene, so I think sometimes important details from a scene might get lost in what isn't said explicitly
🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction?
uhhh well when i was 12 it was because of a big crush on Oliver Wood. but i took a big long hiatus and then I restarted because I rediscovered a big crush on John Price and realized that adults can do whatever they want and find enjoyment and glee in it
🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.
love and romance. and also whump/hurt/comfort - i love when characters don't know the depth of their feelings until they feel them. whooooooowee that does it for me.
🙋♀️ Do any irl people know you write fanfic?
unfortunately no unless you count my MOTHER who told me once she used to write fanfic in her childhood and then refused to say more
⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?
usually when the inspiration hits i'll sit down and do a chapter in an evening. if I wait too long I lose my mojo
your opinion on star wars, on string cheese, on poetry
diana. u know what i like.
star wars: the two original trilogies were excellent, but post-disney acquisition I've become removed from it because I feel like they took a very earnest series of films and shoved it into the disingenuous Marvel-CGI-cheap-gags-for-laughs genre and I just can't bring myself to engage with it anymore.
string cheese: FUCKS. only when cold and eaten stringy-style
poetry: I wish I had a greater understanding of it. whenever it means something to me I worry I'm getting it wrong somehow and the author is going to jump out from a bush and tell me at gunpoint that wasn't their intended meaning
all the time tbh, i feel like it’s good for a writer to go back and read their own stuff and just be like “damn this slaps, actually”
7. How many ideas for fics do you have right now?
far too many
13. How much planning do you do before writing?
98% of the time, there’s a lot of planning, one outline, and at least two playlists before i start writing. occasionally there are times when inspiration hits and i just start writing with no idea where i’m going, but i prefer to have things semi/mostly planned!!
15. How do you come up with titles for your fics/chapters?
song lyrics!! i have an entire playlist dedicated to it called stealing these lyrics for fic titles. sometimes i’ll use quotes i like, but most of the time it’s song lyrics
21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?
i’ve deleted entire fics after writing them if i’m honest. usually it’s because i’m just not vibing with how it’s written, i can’t find a way to properly convey what i want, or it’s a scene i think would fit better in a different chapter
i think 2 or 3. I've got some exit row whump that is so far totally disconnected from the plot, exit row part v part ii, and a little bit of mothiverse fluff floating around.
🍬 Do you write for multiple fandoms? If yes, what is your favorite fic of yours for each fandom?
i actually don't yet. tbh I'm not a huge fandom person in general so i'm pretty loyal to one thing at a time. movies and shows don't really hold interest for me like they used to.
but: I think my favorite fic is afternoon coffee: it felt so fun and comfortable to write and let me play with the growth of moth and price's relationship in so many ways.
👓 What helps you focus when you write?
I listen to ASMR or lyric-less music (QUIET CITY BY AARON COPLAND) while I write! I also like to take my computer to the kitchen with me and tack out ideas while I cook and then fill them in while I eat.
