          she   was   still   awake ,      because   of   course  she   was .      &&   despite   how   much   she   tried   not   to   bother   mahiru   when   she   had   difficulty   sleeping ,      she   wasn’t   really   surprised   that   mahiru   noticed .      after   all ,      it   only   would   have   been   a   matter  of   time ,      right ?      but   the   statement   that   mahiru   worried   about   her   was   something   she   hadn’t   really   expected   to   hear .     oh ,      she   knew   the   other   girl   at   least   considered   her   a   friend ,      but   hikari   didn’t   tend   to   think   the   others   really   considered   her   outside   of   when   she   was   actually   around .      (      a   testament   more   to   how   she   sees   herself   than   how   the   others   treated   her      —      didn’t   feel   excluded   around   them ,      but   being   new   &&   having   been   gone   for   so   long ?      she’d   been   surprised   they   still   cared   when   she  came   back   with   karen .      )

          &&   now   nana   was   offering   to   help ,      even   this   late   at   night ?      blue   eyes   lifted   from   the   screen   of   her   phone   &&   to  the   door   to   their   room       —      would   consider   it   for   a   moment .      didn’t   want   to  wake   anyone  else   up ,      but   nana   was   already   awake ,     so   what   would   it  hurt ,      right ?      besides ,      she   didn’t   want   to   be   alone .      knew   karen   &&   mahiru   were   right   there ,     but   they   were   asleep ,      &&   that   was        —      different   than   having   someone   there   who   was   awake   &&   could   talk   to   her ,      even   if   it   wasn’t   about   her   nightmares   or   her   sleep   problems .      just   wanted   company .

          so   she’d   up   as   quietly   as   she  could ,      moving   on   quiet   feet   &&   opening   the  door       —     shutting   it   behind   her   with   a   soft   click .      would   stay   quiet  as   she   made   her   way   to   the   small   kitchen ,      blue   gaze   easily   finding   the   other .      approached   uncertainly       —     not   entirely   sure   what   to   say .      instead   moved   to   join   nana .     figured   she’d   ask   the  obvious .      “      you’re   up ,      too ?      ”

Yuh, it's been the hottest minute since I've watched Black Butler ( and ive yet to do anything regarding Book of Circus ) but I think you do a really good job of depicting Ciel. You write with a lot of passion for him, and, like many of your muses, I really do look forward to reading what comes up on my dash !

             thank you !! i tend to pick up muses because of being really passionate over their backstory / character & wanting to be able to expand them more than canon was able to do so this means a lot to me !

     “Banana.” Karen slumped over the couch in their shared common room, the one where she could see over the half wall and into the kitchen. Practice with Hikari-chan had been non-stop since way too early this morning and, however motivated she liked to think she was, skipping meals was never an option. Oh, she’d brought snacks and ate them, but! How could anyone practice like that and not be starving afterwards?

     “I’m so hungry.”

    It can’t have been but a couple moments since she last managed to open her eyes, really. She only closed them for a minute, yet when bleariness clears from her murky greens, she sees an entire fifteen minutes has passed. And just as last time, she also sees Junna stand across the room ( sees two of her for a moment ! ) frantic in her approach. Ah… she looks fearful, and it makes Nana feels positively terrible that she’s the reason there is so much worry paining her expression. She vaguely can feel a hand on her head, something chilled pressed up to her lips, and her eyes slide shut to focus on what little cool water she can take into her throat. Focus on swallowing the water down- it’ll help; not on how terrible she must be right now, sweaty bangs plastered to her face.

    It’s a double edged sword, pleasant cooling giving her a moments clarity to try giving a smile that likely comes out weak. Yet at the same time, it feels as though someone has taken a sheet of sandpaper to her throat and rubbed it ‘till it was raw, and every time she swallows, it takes a sharp squeeze of her eyelids to stop tears from forming. Slowly, her eyes open once more, half-lidded at best as she tries to focus in on the hazy purple mess she presumes is where Junna’s head is. It hurts like nothing else when she attempts to speak, a weak and clammy hand reaching for a barely-there grip on her roommate’s uniform sleeve. “Junna-chan,” Oh yes, it hurts, and hurts and hurts. “S…shouldn’t stay. You’ll be—” late remains unsaid; it’s all she can manage before the shaky intake of air goes wrong, and a painful coughing fit wracks her body. 

🏹 It wasn’t as though it was an uncommon occurrence for students of their class to get sick; as this could be expected from just about any public place where so many people gathered on a daily basis. But, most of the time, it simply consisted of a small cold or a bug that would resolve itself within a day or two. 

This, though...it was much more severe than just that. Nana’s cough hadn’t cleared up even after several days, and she’d found her bedridden this morning when the both of them should have been ready for class quite a while ago. With her roomate’s forehead burning to touch; there was no question about needed to be done for her.She curled her fingers around Nana’s gripping hand as her friend spoke.

“It’s fine. I’ve already messaged the teacher about the situation, and she agreed to count both our absences as excused.” Her free hand reached for a wet cloth, gently pressing it to the sick girl’s forehead. “You’re running a high fever - and I’ve been advised to call the hospital if it doesn’t clear up by the end of today.”

It’s meat!

More specifically, it’s the bull you felled for the castle’s dinner tonight- the brightly dressed people from the ‘circus’ volunteered to make stew, and you were volunteered to find the right meat for the job. 

Everyone in the castle made dinner strangely to you- especially how they distinguished the different meats of one critter. Meat was meat! Why was one meat a chuck and one meat a round? Why was the shoulder better for stew than the rear? As long as you cooked it, you could eat it!

You’re supposed to wait for Vice to teach you how to distinguish the cuts before you start- no one can deny your the best at carving the most usable material from a kill, but a whole slab of meat wasn’t good enough for dinner, apparently.

     Maya peeked into the kitchen, hoping the target of her inquiry would be there. And such was her luck that she was. A smile, perhaps a more genuine one than many of her smiles, slipped into place as she stepped inside.  “Daiba-san. I was hoping you could assist me with something.”

     She set a picture of a strawberry Charlotte cake down on the counter. “While I’m fairly certain of my skills when it comes to cooking, this particular dessert is a bit... more than my usual endeavors. The process seems simple enough, but I have yet to settle on a filling. Fruit and custard is the traditional one, to my understanding.” Nor had she purchase the cookies needed for the outer layer.

🏹 - “Happy birthday Nana. I know it’s not much but -” Junna held out a stuffed frog to her dear friend, one she’s sure is to add to the collection of hundreds she probably already has. Still, aside from the soft feeling of the teddy-bear sized plush, it was the first time she’d ever seen one with a pair of glasses to come with it.

“I hope you like him. Forgive me if my own preferences seemed to have slipped into this gift. I’ll try to come up with a more unique gift next time...”
