"Tip: Building Homes Using Concept Art | katatty" in the build section of the pinned post links to dramallamadingdang's post talking about building lots off-road, which while very cool is not at all the same thing :)
hi, anon, yeah this blog is cursed. For whatever reason, links have criss crossed on several occasions. It's aggravating.
I updated the page and also linked here: https://katatty.tumblr.com/post/648795802621427712/do-you-have-any-advice-on-renovating-lots-id
@shadysentinel No! No one has even enough skill points to bake one! Just plain old bad luck, it seems.
@katatty Terrible luck, yeah! Also, at least in my game, it seems to have a weird bias towards giving twins to families with neither enough money nor space to fit two!
@chrisnewbie You know, just for once I wanted to play a tiny little neighbourhood with a low birthrate and look what I've got! BABY TAKEOVER 2025! Indeed!
its so cute!!! and I am very curious to know how you are handling the "fake" university
@eulaliasims
It looks so good! All the details. *_* I think the library might be my favorite, but it's hard to choose! And I'm also interested in how you plan to handle the university thing.
Thank you both! This fake uni system really isn't that interesting haha, but here's how it's supposed to work.
The lot for one is uh more or less literally hidden:
This corner of the world needed a gas station anyway.
It's a residential lot where I'll move any sims that go to the university. They'll live here for one whole season, during which they'll be absent from the main hood.
(It'll actually be a little more than one season as I'll move them right at the end of playing their household, so from the other household's perspective they'll be away for the remaining season too, and then the next one in full – dunno if this explanation makes sense.)
While they're on this lot, I'll give them a trait or a token that stops them from showing up as walkbys or on community lots. I think there's a mod for the loner trait already that works like that.
And then I just play this lot normally as a part of the rotation, only not documenting it and focusing on skill building. So they get some benefit out of it, in addition to being able to choose careers that need a degree in the future.
I have been absolutely blown away by the response to this post. While I post my Sims pics to give others a glimpse in to my game, it is awesome to get such great feedback.
@nervosims, @helene2troie, @sterina-sims, @12raben, @jonnyparable, @anachronisims, @gold33, @katatty, @maksplaygroundsims2, @princesspiratecat & @eulaliasims- Thank you all so much, especially since there are some many of you who have the most gorgeous 'hoods as well!
And @anachronisims- Yes, these 'hoods are mostly boulders. the regular Maxis sized ones, plus larger and smaller ones, and Sophie-David's Neighborhood Volcanoes. There is a bunch of other deco used, but I went a bit wild with the rocks. I wanted there to be consistency with the neighborhoods, like you know they are from the same world, but all have individual seasonal patterns, biomes, races and flora/fauna.
Would you be interested in making over the university neighbourhoods? Or at least, safely populating Katatty's makeovers with the original Sims?
Not to makeover (I have been deeply involved in modding a different game lately) but I will look at Katatty's and see what putting the original Sims in would involve. I think it should be easy but you never know with Sims!
