And you caught me on a day when I actually do something interesting: Wednesday nights are polo practice, so I played some polo and it was great fun. I'm terrible at it, but as long as I don't fall off, I consider it a success.

i have to chair a panel at this year's early modern french conference and i've never chaired a panel before and it's like being invited from the kids' table to sit with the adults for the first time.
i've booked myself an apartment in paris for the whole month of october, right after i submit my thesis, and god i can't wait.
