Me realizing I can't get away from existential horror themed circus shows/childcore themed fandoms (examples are Sunnyday Jack, my own Caretime Clowns, my own fnaf series, Welcome Home, The Amazing Digital Circus) along with making characters based on those premises.

Special thanks to my besties, @kate66s and Jordan. I'm just dipping my toes into dnd, and these two were kind enough to help me give Jack a lore that would make sense.
Disclaimer: This is built around Baldur's Gate 3 story, but he can be changed to fit any story.
Jack was born a human to two not so kind parents. His childhood was filled with pain and berating. He quickly turns to ways to no longer feel the pain his parents inflicted on him. At first, it cried and consulted himself, Then it evolved into bullying other children, and eventually drinking. When he turned 18, he had left his home and found himself in the wonderus city of Baldur's Gate.
However, life got harder for Jack. Living on the streets, Jack had to do anything to survive. Including stealing, which he tried to do to Palidin, who he thought was drunk, and an easy target.
Fortunately, when caught the Paladin took mercy on Jack. He saw something in Jack and instead offered to train. Set him on a better path. It was also during this training that he had come across worshipers of Lliira Mistress of the Revels. He found joy and peace in her embrace. and made his oath to her when he became a Paladin.
Many had found it odd, considering it was well known that the Mistress of the Revels hated violence. Jack didn't mind he just kept his sword for protection, and his lute for entertainment.
It was peaceful for Jack, but it seems misfortune follows the Paladin. He has broken His Vow to Lliira, drawing his against a man who was technically innocent. While the man hadn't cause pain or misery. There was something about him. It was like he saw him everywhere but as a different person as if he were a changling. It eventually became too much, and he striked, covering himself in blood and breaking his vow.
Lost, broken, and depressed Jack fell down a hole of drinking and violence. He eventually came in contact with Goretash, where he became a bodyguard after the last was sold.
He was with Goretash for a while until he woke up on an Illithid ship, a tadpole being inserted into his eye. When the ship crashes, he finds himself in the goblin camp being called a "True Soul." At first, he liked being revered as some sort of holy being. However, when Halsin and the adventures tried to get into camp. He was put in charge of getting information. The way Halsin talked to him reminded him of his teacher.
It was like a splash of cold water waking Jack from his bloody depressed haze. He had vowed to help Halsin get out. When Tav attacks the camp, Jack joins them, and after Halsin is free, he offers his services.
He doesn't take a new Vow till after Moonrise. He then takes the Paladin Vow of vengeance.
Sorry if I'm bringing up something that probably old as hell but
I can't help but think about how much weirder and semi uncanny Valient bots like Osiris are to Cybertronians. But on a funny note imagen how confused Cybertronian bots get when when Valient bots do human shit become they technically are the last remnants of human culture let in all of existence to an extent
(I don’t remember calling the human turned mechs Valient bots. I think I have a character named Valiant tho)
But I’m not sure what the mechs could do to be seen as uncanny (they can’t eat, but maybe whatever it is they use as fuel is seen as weird? Idk). I think it would be more their appearance that’s uncanny to the cybertronians the ex-humans could have have weird eyes for example, or the complete lack of altmodes or extra expressive appendages like wings and finials could be seen as strange.
Or if you’re one who has headcanons that cybertronians have em fields, it would probably weird them out to find that these new mechs have absolutely no em field.
