1.1k~ katie kunkle is the worst spree driver ever. she's so pretty in an odd way, but you're even prettier, and everyone wants a piece... the urge to make this a little freaky was so so strong but I hope you like itt #katiesdebut
it was such a disrupting sound so early in the day.
You stare at your car in the driveway. that thing was just barely safe to drive. you spent too much on inspections and maintenance to not at least try. I mean, yesterday she was fine, but now the vehicle seemed repulsed by the mere concept of a key in its ignition. The engine sputtered dramatically, and the two of you groaned in unison. Mhm. No good.
you chewed the inside of your lip as you weighed your options. you didn't want to spend unnecessary cash on a ride, but ordering a quick ride might've been your best bet.
guess who's having car trouble
a post made to your story just an hour ago.
and after not too long that story was flooded with hearts and comments and attention. just as it always is. maybe it's a coincidence that Katie happened to send one of those hearts. maybe not. not that it mattered. out of at least five thousand followers you hadn't noticed her handle. @katesworld96. I mean, out of at least five thousand followers what were you supposed to be looking for? whatever she had to offer didn't interest you, it wasn't anything personal.
Katie grinned. her greasy, dark brown hair was pulled back into two little pony tails with blue and white pins to hold back most of her dreadfully uneven bangs. "this is method trust me!" she giggles softly as her right foot eases off the gas and onto the break pedal, the image of you only growing clearer with this new closeness. you hadn't even stepped into the car yet and her face was already heating up. "Everyone behave you're gonna scare them awaayyugh." She groaned softly as her eyes scanned the live chat comments that seemed only to increase as your fingers wrapped around the backseat door handle and swung it open.
you set your tote down first before scooting in and situating yourself. double checking you have everything before reaching back and pulling your seat belt over your chest. click. "Hi, I'm Katie I'm you're Spree driver today!" your setbelt is secure. you have your keys, wallet and phone. everything seems to be in order. "Hi Katie… thank youu," your voice fades out as you read a text from your friends group chat. after tapping out a quick response you rest your phone in your lap and find a set of big brown eyes watching you through the rear view.
you fix your gaze out the window instead.
well, you tried to at least. when you turned your head you noticed the camera right above you. and then the one right across from you. then the one in the trunk. then the two in the front. oh okay.
"Hey Katie,"
The girl hums softly, tapping her multicolored nails on the steering wheel. "Yeah?" the polish was chipped.
"What's with all these cameras?" you gesture lazily with your finger watching as she half-heartedly shrugs as if the answer was simple.
"oh its mostly for safety buuttt i ammm live right now! it's kind of my thing it's pretty serious. Say 'Hi Chat!'" she instructs simply as you stare. she looks between the cameras in front of you, smiling and waving into each one. She sticks her tongue out and tosses up a peace sign as you nod, wanting to understand. and like you did understand. you were on social media. you had a following. you got her. kind of.
"Wow.. that's totally cool Katie," you lick your lips, pausing for a moment to find your words. "but I didn't agree to be part of your live stream so…"
She picks her sun glasses from the collar of her sweater and carefully sets them on her nose and you finally notice the music playing on the radio. you hate it. "Everyone lovesss you so bad I mean I know I'm impressive but you- gosh- wow you are really something!" she glances back at you briefly.
the scenery surrounding the two of you slowly shifts as Katie bobs her bead to the rythym of some noise you can't quite decipher.
"You should follow me @katesworld96 and follow #thelesson you knoe with your help we could really get The Lesson out there!"
click. you weren't sure if you simply hadn't noticed it before, but the car doors were locked. perhaps you just imagined that click. and click click. you unfastened your seatbelt to lean forward. the sun shines through the front windshield as Katie drives on. Narrowing your eyes you try blinking to focus, making a short attempt to catch sight of her phone screen since your gps had rerouted twice already and you hadn't noticed any road work or car accidents or anything that should prompt the drive.
Kate pouts for a second, looking back at you through the rearview before turning her head to meet your eyes, your faces surprisingly close. "You gotta put your seatbelt back on silly. Do you need anything?" She reaches down, looking back to the road as she grabs a white charger cord, offering it to you. "Charger? Water? There's a bunch there if you want some I keep em just in case." Her voice is light, a little playful. Her eyes flick down and she grins.
you can't tell why, but her live chat is going crazy.
"Right. Thanks. I'm okay." you offer a polite smile in return as you slink back into your seat, contemplating just how unsafe it is to not wear your seatbelt while a stranger drives you around. you decide you'll survive without it.
your phone vibrates in your hand and you try not to groan at the newest notification. Low Battery 5%. A breif glance informed you that whatever charger Kate had wasn't compatible with your phone so you were just going to have to wait until you met up with your friends. which was fine. you had to be less than five minutes away by now.
you hear Katie gasp as you try typing a quick text to your friends. your head shoots up, your attention quickly turning to the road. to the girl driving.
"whatwhat is everything okay?" it's instict. the want to help. the habit of offering yourself up. your brows knit together as the brunette smiles. "Thank you so much @scariffs for the donation! you're the sweetest," she reaches up, adjusting the rearview to see you better. for whatever reason the smile on her face causes an indescribable feeling to settle in your stomach. a fluttering knot of some sort.
