"Painting daisies" by Katria on INPRNT
great fanart! thanks for not putting me in heels i vastly appreciate it. you even got my braid . . . nice
unfortunately, katie's hair color is wrong. it's dark red
is there more katria 👀
yes there is. unfortunately
hi 'tis minefield anon here! thought i might liven things up in your askbox with some katria instead of keefe-hater allegations (which i don't believe in dw). if you're wondering about the quick turnover, i plan for this to be only two more parts to each of you (including this one), and in the last part for each version i will reveal myself ;) anyway. here you go.
reminder that i'm messing up LOTS of chronology in comparison to real life tumblr!! so in this 'verse you finish refuting the ENTIRE rant before posting it.
________
DISCLAIMER: i have not read the full anti-Keefe rant, but i've definitely read through portions and familiarized myself with the main arguments in it, not just through the rant itself but also through stria's explanation(s) of it. any arguments put into katria!katie's head (and later katria!stria's head) are extrapolated from posts they have made about this, or their rants/rant responses themselves. i will start making a list of citations if you want one.
if i've misinterpreted anything, then the fault is mine. these are NOT authoritative interpretations of katie's or stria's position on keefe, their respective rants/rant responses, or anything of that sort. katie and stria reserve the rights to their respective opinions, and regarding those, their word is law.

Agree to Disagree (Katie's Version) [Part Two]
Months went by, and both the number of things on Katie's to-do list and the number of conversations she and Stria had grew. They were some of her least stressful moments, somehow—Stria always seemed to know what Katie meant, only second to her dear cognate Isa, and their thoughts about each other's interests (barring Keefe) were similar. In fact she found herself rather looking forward now to one of Stria's upcoming essays: a defense of Alden Vacker, which was a rare thing.
However, she had still not responded to Stria's anti-Keefe rant.
Katie wouldn't lie—she was a little scared. Not of reading the rant, and most certainly not of refuting it, but of...getting angry. She knew how intensely she spoke about her blorbos—anyone who had seen her defend one was probably well-aware of it. And though it would feel beyond satisfying to reply to that rant in her best analytical and righteous fury, she didn't want it to ruin anything between her and her duel spirit mutual.
Stria wants the refutation, Katie reminded herself. She won't mind. Duel spirit, remember.
And thus convinced, she chose the coming weekend to dive in.
At first, Katie found herself irritated. Soon irritation turned to simmering anger, and eventually boiled over into indescribable rage. That the rant was against her blorbo was the smallest contributor to that hatred, mind. That Stria seemed to employ a somewhat different definition of the word 'jealousy; at every turn was but a mild annoyance. Even the fact that many quotes were used for stretched interpretations or cut off at a crucial moment, hadn't stirred Katie to this fury.
What stung much more was that Stria was so close. Her points were the same ones Katie would make to describe Keefe's character. She understood Keefe arguably more than many Keefe lovers! But what had turned her to hate him appeared to be her one-sided (and honestly somewhat unfair) gripes with Shannon Messenger herself: gripes about how Keefe's arc wasn't being handled well, or about how he was favored by the narrative, or about how he was "facing no consequences" (which he most certainly was!) for his messed-up actions. While Katie could admit that Sophie and Keefe breaking up for a time before coming back together would add a lot to their development, she didn't necessarily thing Sophie forgiving him meant that he faced no consequences for his actions. There were reasons behind them, and consequences too, and besides he was a teenager! Which of course brought her to Stria's undying hatred towards Keefe's humor—which hatred, apart from being quite realistic for fourteen-year-old boys and not targeted to hers and Stria's age group, had no place at all in an analysis like this!
And that was the crux of it: the rant was no "rant" to Katie's mind. It was all presented far too objectively—an act of conversion, stated to be all subjective and personal.
On the next weekend, Katie began composing her response. It took her two further weeks, a truckload of anger at Stria's opinions, and sheer determination to do her bit for her fellow Keefe fans, which motivated her. And in the end when she read it, she had to admit—she'd had absolutely livid moments which she was very nervous about Stria's reactions to.
So she made a declaration that she liked Stria. More for the benefit of the anons that would no doubt plague her as soon as the refutation was out, but also, in some part, for her duel spirit mutual. Hopefully, Stria would understand that she was angry at the argument and not at her.
A legal document, she thought as she posted her refutation. Hopefully it holds up.
Then, twenty minutes later, a message from Stria:
restructuring part two now pray for me. duel spirit mutualship conquers all. full response to your response coming soon . . .
Katie smiled. Stria was right. Duel spirit mutualship did conquer everything after all.
~~~
okay hopefully i haven't blown myself up! if i have i beg both of you to have mercy on me. tagging your duel spirit mutual here in case i don't get her part out as quickly: @the-way-astray. apologies stria if i got your texting style wrong!
note that from now i'll send a part first to whichever person's version comes chronologically first. so this happens before stria's version #2. the first parts take place around the same time so i wasn't as explicit with sending times for that.
part three to follow eventually >:)
I feel very seen and I cannot tell how I feel about it. I feel like a character who has been studied closely by the fanfic author. I feel the way I can only hope Keefe would feel if he read my fics about him. I am somewhere between flattered and very uncomfortable. you got it all very very right
ANYWAY. Uhh yeah it's definitely an au of some kind but my characterization is concerningly good
strie fic where stria can never get katie's hair color right
you get a duel spirit mutual's hair color wrong two (2) times and you never hear the end of it . . . and it's katria
oop accidentally put that ask on anon haha
(i have no idea what either of you look like tbh)
okay, fair that you didn't know katie has blue eyes, but why do i have purple eyes. i feel like. that is not the conclusion one would jump to when trying to guess someone's eye color
also why are we divorced twice over what is this. fun fact: me and my irl friends googled how many times you can divorce and remarry the same person and it's completely unlimited; the government will never step in and go "bitch we saw what happened the last x number of times you tried this". so we could do this for all eternity, in theory. so that's a thing i know . . . don't ask about what irl lore made me google this. it's complicated
thank you for making me taller than katie. this is much appreciated
@myfairkatiecat there's fanart now
Wrote a strie(efe) fic enjoy it. It's called Sixteen Months
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stria was minding her own business, walking down the street, when she spotted Keefe talking to Katie. Great. Her two least favorite people in the world.
Well, that wasn't fair to Katie. Katie was only occasionally bad. Keefe, on the other hand? That was a whole other level of hatred.
Stria was going to simply be on her way, but then remembered that Keefe talking to Katie could NOT be good. So she walked over to the two of them and overheard their conversation.
"Are you telling me what to do with my life?" Keefe was asking.
"No, of course not. That would ruin the experiment."
"You're demanding for me to participate in an experiment."
"I'm not demanding anything from you," Katie countered. "The experiment is ongoing and I never asked for your cooperation, I just did it. The fact that you figured that out is not my problem."
"You're stalking me!"
"It's not stalking if you're fictional."
Stria decided she needed to get Keefe and Katie away from each other ASAP. This was a recipe for disaster.
Sixteen Months Later
"But... what about Isa?" Stria sputtered.
"Oh, yeah." Katie laughed nervously. "Me and Isa are actually the same person. I just put on a wig to be her, and all our text conversations are fake. I just liked the idea of having a cognate. But I mean it when I say I love you."
"Why would you love me?" Stria asked. "You love Keefe, and I hate him."
"You don't, though," Katie said knowingly. "After all this time, I've seen how you've softened to us both. You've fallen for both of us."
"I have not!"
"Not even me?"
Stria gritted her teeth. "Okay, fine. Maybe I've developed feelings for you. But it would never work out."
"Why?"
"Because we always end up fighting over Keefe!"
"I have a feeling that won't be much of an issue anymore," Katie said. "You're telling me all this time you've spent realizing you like me, you haven't realized you like Keefe? Not even a little?"
"No," Stria said. It was the fastest answer, though there was more nuance. Katie wasn't wrong when she said Stria softened towards him.
"Fine then. Does THIS fix that?" Katie pulled a booklet out of her pocket. On the front cover it read, 16 Things I Love About Stria by Keefe Irwin Sencen. "He even included his middle name so it would be sixteen letters," she pointed out. "And it's sixteen pages."
Katie made a compelling argument.
"I do love the number sixteen."
"Then why don't you read this?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stria, Katie, I'm sorry, it's for the bit
i, stria sixteen, hereby give "sixteen months" anon (and any following anons and non-anons) permission to call the ship between stria sixteen, kathryn myfairkatiecat, and keefe irwin sencen "katrieefe" instead of "strie(efe)"
i hear the katria bug is catching? well i'm going. to make it worse.
presenting to your askboxes (this is a dual pov fic and a version of this will go out to katie too), with worldbuilding inspired by "the other woman" (other woman anon if you're out there know that i'm thinking about your fic.....)
note that this is au to real life keepblr events and their chronology. for the most part.
Agree To Disagree (Stria's Version) [Part One]
Stria was sitting at her computer, Tumblr open, and checking out the girl she'd met that morning in the Keeper Forum.
She'd been a nice girl, Katie, with a bright smile, pretty eyes, and an adorable cat trotting along beside her. From the outset, something about her had screamed 'popular' to Stria, even though there was no gaggle of followers and mutuals behind her as there tended to be around popular people in large fandom forums. When they'd bumped into each other, they'd smiled, chatted about the fine weather, and swapped Tumblrs since Stria didn't have an AO3 handle. And that had been that.
But something, something indefinable about Katie, had fascinated her beyond idle username swapping. So here she was, looking up myfairkatiecat on Tumblr.
Stria opened the page to Katie's blog, and read through the pinned post and its long, extensive list of fandoms. Right after those she found a few random anon asks answered indulgently by Katie, along with pictures of her cat Gracie. There—that was more than proof that she was a popular blog. Stria wouldn't follow, of course—her circle of mutuals was quite small. But there would be, she concluded as she scrolled further on, no harm in keeping up casual conversation. Katie quite enjoyed character analysis, after all, or so she'd told Stria that morning.
And then, Stria saw the fateful post. The type of post that had contributed heavily (among other things) to her discerning taste in follow-backs.
Oh, she thought. She likes Keefe.
Stria was well aware that a large contingent of people who actively frequented the Keeper Forum were Keefe lovers. While she couldn't even hope to understand why they did it (after all, she was the one who'd written and posted an anti-Keefe rant that was seventy-five pages in its first part alone), she had no real issues with them. Fanon Keefe was alright with her, and she was a believer in ship-and-let-ship and all its many variants.
However, her Keefe-haterism and other sadly controversial takes (such as that Alden did not deserve the hate he got!!) had made her somewhat notoriously famous. It had encouraged people to take to arguing with her about her opinions—which she would not have minded if the arguments had been well-thought-out. She was glad that most of these were directed at her Alden thoughts and staunch denial of the Elwin-is-Sophie's-bio-father theory, and not her Keefe rant, since responding to badly-thought-out responses to her passionate rant would have been enough to make her deactivate, probably. But, that said, she'd been aching for a challenge. A worthy opponent. Someone who loved Keefe as fervently as she hated him, without excusing his character flaws, ill-addressed though they were.
Could Katie—Katie who defended her liking of Anakin Skywalker, who reminded her large circle of unabashed Keefe lovers to consider their love through the lenses of his flaws—be that?
A notification came up on her screen. A comment on her Keefe rant. From myfairkatiecat.
Ok as soon as I have time I’m reading this whole thing, so just a fair warning, I’m a debate team girlie and I’m probably gonna disagree with you on a lot of things, and since you said it’s ok to argue I probably will. But I want to say up front that since it is a work of fiction it’s not that deep even if I treat it like it is and that if you want me to stop I will :) basically I really like debating so I’m probably going to go all out but it’s not meant to be taken personally at all [A/N credit to @myfairkatiecat this is directly from her comment reply to Stria's rant, which she made in June 2024.]
Ah yes. Stria couldn't resist a little giggle. This is going to be fun indeed.
so, thoughts? if you want a part two i'll make one :)
katie's version @myfairkatiecat @/the-other-woman-writer (i don't think they'll see this lmfao they seem to be mostly wrapped up in isa/katie's mutual circle's drama)
