I was finally able to listen to KATTDO top to bottom and my overall impression of it is that it's Harry's reflections about his struggle as a high profile closeted person. It's not just about being queer, but how being closeted affects every aspect of his life. Including his relationship. How having to hide puts extra strain on it. How having to hide puts extra strain on everything in his life. In "Paint By Numbers" he says we spend our whole lives trying to learn how to color within the framework, but he's "watching the colors run", meaning he's not coloring within the lines and making mistakes and struggling. To me most of the album is him grappling with fame and closeting, and how that has affected and shaped every aspect of his life, including his friendships and romantic relationships.

Look at the last song she’s referring to as Harry’s inspiration.. remind me again who used that song as their outro several times during tour 😉

So true! And she’s spot on. I think the bulk of people trashing his album don’t have much knowledge of music history and can’t see where his influences come from. Obviously, that doesn’t mean it has to be to your liking, but saying it’s “trash” just makes you look ignorant.

Hi Gina, I also disagree that KATTDO is an album about a breakup. Firstly, because the album's main message, conveyed in the single "Apperture," is "we belong together, it's finally appearing, it's only love." Speaking of "taste back," it sounds more like a willingness to give the relationship another chance, followed by the difficult conversation we see in "coming up roses."

Hey Gina!

I saw a pretty disappointing album analysis of KISSCO from a fan I used to respect. He said the album was Harry saying to Louis “I’m done with you”. I was wondering what your thoughts were on this interpretation? Personally, I didn’t see any of those themes in the album. I haven’t gone looking for analysis videos online to not taint my experience, this one just showed up on my fyp. I love this album so much and am gutted to be questioning the motivations in what I saw as a beautiful display of confidence. I don’t know, this just upset me and has me questioning, maybe just looking for reassurance.

Oh, I'm sorry to people who like this creator, but I stopped listening to their theories and analysis of anything to do with Harry and Louis a long time ago. I just don't like their takes on things.

And wow. IMO their analysis of KATTDO is honestly SO off-base, even if you don't believe in Larry. Like? Did they even listen? Did they watch any of the interviews? Do they not remember that so often Harry writes autobiographical songs using the "You" in the song to mean him?

Also, the brief, bored, and dismissive way of talking about the songs was not for me. Thank you for reminding me why I unfollowed them so long ago.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, and obviously, none of us really know what Harry is talking about in his songs. But while I agree with them that Taste Back is talking about an on-again, off-again relationship, I believe he's writing about a period of time in the past. Not any time recently. When he sings about wasted time, waiting, being scared -- he's talking mostly about himself. Not about Louis. And POP is not in the least about a "bisexual threesome." I nearly had to shut off the video when they said that.

I've said before that I think KATTDO and HDWGH are albums that chronicle the course of their relationship over the past 6-10 years.

I do not think that Harry has finally gotten away from Louis and left that doomed relationship in the dust. Personally, I think what's changed is that they're both on the same page about their future, and while there are still hurdles to overcome, the future looks bright.

Hi, I'm a different anon, but when I saw this ask, for a split second i thought it was me who sent it(😅), because I also was thinking about talking to you about this creator's interpretation

I haven't seen any tiktoks from him in a long time, but this one popped on my fyp yesterday and I was so disappointed with his take. Everybody's entilted to their own opinion, but this made me unfollow him. He seemed a bit too happy to think that Louis and Harry broke up, as if Louis doesn't deserve H and that it's his fault for not being ready to come out "for a long time if ever". It made me feel uneasy. The bisexual threesome in Pop, of which he was so sure, doesn't make sense either. The threesome will be your "gameday saviour"? I thought most of us agreed this line was about ketamine🤣

Also, i don't want to force anyone to support an artist they don't feel like supporting, of course. But him talking about how done he is with Louis in the comments (I don't know if you've read them) came off a bit holier than thou. And to be honest, I don't see that big of a difference between L and H when it comes to speaking up on politics and social issues, so I don't know why it was a dealbreaker in Louis' case. I get that you want your idols to be involved politically, i really do (most of my favourite aritsts were very outspoken too!), but be consistent ig

(Btw - i'm not one of the die hard louis defenders who think that every little piece of criticism towards him is some sort hateful attack, believe me. There are things he does/has done that bother me as well. This creator's takes just felt lazy/dishonest to me)

Idk if you've seen this post analysing kattdo a bit gina but it makes so much sense to me. It makes sense that the whole album was definitely shaped in a certain way because of liam. Kind of this melancholic and tragic nature to the song writing underneath the disco beats. I never thought of it that way but in so many ways, grief permeates through every crevice of the record

Hi sweetheart. Thank you for linking me. I reblogged it and tend to always agree with Allie. This was no different. It's a deep and thoughtful (and occasionally heartbreaking) album set to some very upbeat music. I think too many people dismissed it because it wasn't what they wanted or expected from him.

Clearly, it's doing very well regardless. But I find it interesting.
