The body was in an alley, behind a bar. The deceased had been badly beaten, three broken ribs, three fractured, a broken nose, and a dislocated shoulder. There were also two bullets, from a .45, in his chest, having gone through and bounced back off the pavement. Beside the body were matching bullet casings, and an empty beer bottle, with an irregular hole in the bottom, and gunshot residue mixed with saliva at the top. No one in the bar had heard a sound.
