Demo’s words of encouragement were not lost on Mundy (the fact that he nearly tripped on his own feet after this shove on his back completely was, though), who felt the rush of adrenaline pumping through his veins and beating at his temples - nostrils flaring and teeth almost baring like the angry dog he became every time he lost his not-so-legendary temper. Tavish DeGroot was a good friend, as far as Mundy was concerned. Or at least, so he hoped, in case he needed someone to carry his sorry self back to the base once he’d have shown that big bloody bogan across the table how they handled fistfights in the bush.
Sure, a proper good friend may have listened to common sense and tried to stop the fight before it could take place, but they weren’t proper good blokes to start with, so that was alright in Sniper’s book.
A first punch was thrown in his direction, and Mundy didn’t do much to dodge it (he was drunk, he was pissed: he was ready to stomach anything) and had to grab onto the bar to catch his balance, head spinning and cheekbone radiating pain (was he bleeding? Maybe he was bleeding, who knew). He didn’t let that stop him though, swinging his own fist to connect it with his opponent’s chin with trained precision (one shot one kill didn’t just hold true to rifles). Immediately the man’s comrades jumped to the rescue, pushing Mundy back with indignant cries as he grinned triumphantly and stumbled backwards to Tavish - ferocious child seeking his equally devious classmate’s approval. “Bloody hell I’m gonna take the whole room down with me - what’s in that poison y’made me drink, mate?” He barely had time to finish his question - a hand grabbed his shoulder and pulled him back into the fray. So much for professionalism.

THE DISHEARTENING RESPONSE that Ludwig receives is unfortunate, to say the least. Tavish is not wrong – the words were spoken with the intent of cheering up a friend. But the other man’s lack of trust in Ludwig’s words is surprising, and a little more than dismaying.
❝ Oh, come now, Tavish. I wouldn’t lie about something like that unless it was absolutely necessary. ❞ He claps an arm over Tavish’s ( now very notably human and much less broad ) shoulders. Ordinarily, he wouldn’t even be able to reach the small of Tavish’s back if he reached up this far.
❝ While the best of your breed can be gorgeous, those are few and far between. Believe me, I have been around here for quite a while – so have some faith. I do mean it: You’re a lovely specimen, or certainly at least one of the prettiest wolves I’ve seen. ❞ Tavish would be hard-pressed to find a lie in that statement. Though it’s seemingly made lightly, anyone who’s known Ludwig long enough knows that it’s not very often that the doctor issues such compliments – if ever.
