(In response to your blackfish post) I've talked about this a lot and I've had several people say 'oh well you ride horses, they're in captivity, I guess we should release them too!' And there's a bunch of reasons why the situations are different. Orcas need a lot more space, they're predators which means they're smarter and more likely to be aggressive, most horses still live in an environment very similar to what they'd be in the wild, even if they do come into a stall at night (cont)
While an orcas tank is nothing like the ocean (no plants, wildlife, etc). Orcas have more complex social lives and they are extremely attached to their family. Horses are generally not deprived of food in order to work, and if you want to look at statistics, a horses life expectancy is waaay longer in captivity than in the wild, while its the opposite for killer whales. Those are just my thoughts and what I usually say to people who think keeping horses in captivity is similar to killer whales:)
I really like that you mentioned life expectancy, because that is so, so true. I've had people say, "well, horses don't need their sheathes cleaned or their teeth floated in the wild!" Well, because in the wild if the sheathe got infected they would die, and when their teeth get too long to eat properly... They starve to death.
But orcas have no problem reaching their full lifespan in the wild, something that they never reach in captivity. And the whole point of captivity is to help animals reach their full lifespan, and provide them with healthy, rich lives right?

hey thats cool, i didnt know you were bigender! thats awesome
It's not something I really brag on too much. But yes, definitely not straight or cisgendered. Definitely love horses though. xD
