Young justice 2010 but it's DND/fantasy Headcanons
I love DnD and I also love Young Justice. It has been rotating in my microwave brain for a while now. Tis my contribution for the KeepYJAlive campaign going on right now
|| KALDUR'AHM - Lawful Good
Tritons are pretty much the Atlanteans of DnD, described as being the protectors of ocean depths that occasionally venture to the surface.
➸ Class: Oath of Glory Paladin
I felt like a Paladin would be a no brainer since they are mostly stickler for the rules (I say mostly because Kaldur has broken a few before) and have a strong sense of justice. Kaldur leans towards a lawful good alignment so a subclass that believes that completing heroic acts brings you closer to glory feels right up his alley. Oath of Glory Paladins are also known for encouraging their companions in times of hardships which is perfect for Kaldur as he is the backbone of the team that keeps them afloat.
I feel like his background would be a soldier because in this au, the young justice team doesn't form until way later on in their lives so Kaldur would've most likely become one of the ranks in the royal army. Also this background provides the character with a gaming set which aligns with a headcanon I have
|| ZATANNA ZATARA - Chaotic Good
I deadass don't have a deeper reason for it other than having magic as an innate trait and having fey ancestry would be kinda cool
➸ Class: Lore Mastery Wizard
Lore Mastery Wizards study the mechanisms and the nature of the weave which suits Zatanna well. I'd like to imagine she has a tower's worth of diagrams and notes detailing her findings alongside never seen before spells. Since there's no canon reverse spell casting in DnD, giving her the Lore Mastery subclass can help explain why she has a plethora of magical abilities no one has ever heard of.
➸ Background: Entertainer
Zatanna is canonically a show magician so this was the obvious option lol. Having a background in entertainment provides you with a proficiency in performance which is useful because i would like to think Zatanna, Richard and M'gann are the ones who have to become distractions.
|| RAQUEL ERVIN - Chaotic Good
Since she relies on a belt for her powers canonically I think she would still be a human in a fantasy setting.
➸ Class: Way of the Sun Soul Monk
The Sun Soul monk has a few abilities that are very similar to her powers in canon. Her powers are kinetic based so having attacks that deal additional radiant damage feels like the closest possible option to canon.
I'd imagine she was inspired by the various legendary heroes canon DnD to become a hero for her home town. After much convincing, she becomes a apprentice monk under Icon.
|| M'GANN M'ORZZ - Neutral Good
Kalashtar have a few telepathic abilities like a mind link which is perfect for her
➸ Psionic Warrior Fighter
This class is very battle heavy but it has the telepathic abilities needed for M'gann. I'd imagine she doesn't use any weapons at all instead relying on her abilities only, making her more of a monk than a fighter.
➸ Background: Far Traveller
M'gann did run away from home in the show so I believe the far traveller background is best suited for her. The description of the far traveller background emphasises how out of place the character is in any given situation which just screams M'gann (I mean this positively)
|| WALLY WEST - Chaotic Neutral
Same as Raquel since he obtained his powers through experimentation
➸ Class: Alchemical Artificer
Alchemists literally have an option to increase their walking speed LMAO. Throughout the show, Wally has been a contrarian to magic so I would like to imagine he became an alchemist to spite the magic order.
Definitely the hero for his home town for very obvious reasons.
|| RICHARD GRAYSON - Chaotic Neutral
He's squishy and magic less but I have a solution (for another post maybe)
An assassin rogue with a permanent non-lethal toggle on is both simultaneously hilarious and very much Dick Grayson. He canonically had assassin training so it wouldn't be too far off the incorporate those techniques in his vigilantism
➸ Background: Entertainer
A very obvious choice in background. Since he canonically plays the guitar (only in the mainline universe unfortunately) the DnD equivalent would probably be a lute
|| ARTEMIS CROCK - Chaotic Good
Soft and squishy but hella deadly
➸ Class: Hunter Conclave Ranger
Because of her family of assassins, a Hunter Conclave Ranger is the perfect option. Hunter Conclave are trained to handle dangerous threats like ogres and dragons which I'd imagine Artemis had to be trained since her mercenary work would require her to take on such targets.
➸ Background: Mercenary Veteran
I feel like she would've became a mercenary (unwillingly) because of her father and sister but later fled and ended up meeting the rest of the team
|| CONNER KENT - True Neutral
It's like a step down from a giant with some of the same abilities. I'd imagine he would also be half human with the whole clone ordeal
I was debating on whether or not I should've made him a Barbarian. One one hand Barbarians have a bunch of rage attacks which could be useful given that Conner is a very angry character but Barbarians are too chaotic for a clone that was designed with an objective in mind. So a Brute fighter seems like the best possible option. The brute subclass makes a character extra tanky so combine that with his innate super strength and you got yourself a Superman killer.
Since he was specifically created to combat Superman, a background as a soldier is the best option
Now if anyone has fantasy au fic recs, that would be hella appreciated
