I think there’s a pretty easy way to make Keith protective of Katarina without the stupid romance thing.
For me, Keith is overprotective because of two things. First off, his status as a bastard child instilled a lot of unresolved trauma in terms of how he see’s romance and marriage. With the girls, I think Keith would worry a whole lot on whatever hatred would be sent to Katarina for that, especially Maria’s status as a commoner. And with the guys, I don’t think Keith would ever want to watch his sister be placed in the same position as his mom no matter their good intentions.
Secondly, I can’t help but think Keith desperately wants to keep Katarina safe out of guilt. He hurt her all those years ago and with his magic being so strong, he easily could have killed her if he wasn’t careful. But she was the one who apologized to him and now he wants to keep his promise to defend her no matter what.
My Top 8 Hamefura LN8 moments I NEED to see in the manga
We're finally getting my favorite Hamefura LN adapted into the manga! To celebrate, I've put together a top 8 moments I 100% need to see (I would love for not even a single detail to be missed, but unfortunately adaptations like these need to make sacrifices 😭).
Don't expect a deep analysis tho. These are just my dumb thoughts on my favorite series, as usual.
WARNING: LN8 SPOILERS AHEAD
8) Keith locks Katarina in her room
I hated Keith so much in this scene. His scenes since LN6 have proven to me time and time again how much of a hypocrite he is. Always thinking himself better than Jeord but yearning to do worst, having internal monologues fully victim-blaming Katarina (never apologizing to her either), scaring and confusing her when she needed him & their sibling connection the most (that he actively maintains but tries to break in the worst ways at the worst times possible).
Man, I love this bastard. His POVs enrage me and entertain me so much (being a bad person doesn't mean he's a bad character, fyi).
7) Katarina comforts the crying Maria
Thank you Katarina for being the only person in the fucking room to actually comfort Maria in such a horrible moment. I understand everyone loves and focuses mainly on Katarina, but Maria was the one about to actually be r*ped, the one that had to actually run for her life. Why the hell is everyone so focused on scolding Katarina instead of comforting the literal victim??? whose your guys' friend as well???
6) Nicol's "pleasant dream"
LN8 was the first time we had a good NicoKata scene since LN2, and boy it didn't disappoint at all. His slow realization of the situation, to his panicked monologue, to him exaggerating the consequences to scare Sophia straight. His POVs are always so entertaining.
5) The dancing lessons at the seminar
The whole scene, from start to finish, is great. Jeord actually saying out loud he wants to take Katarina to his room shocked me so much. That moment I went "holy shit, is Hamefura actually going the mature route now???"
Mary and Jeord dancing was hilarious too. For them to actually make it look like dancing although they were actively fighting, lol.
I need to see the expression Katarina makes as she says Mary and Jeord look good together. Will it be melancholic, not bothered at all?
4) Katarina and Cezar "first time greeting each other" as nobles
Their fake ass first meeting while Jeord can't stop staring because he suspects Katarina lied to him, not knowing these two are planning on meeting alone later. Lord, I adored this scene. And the fact it got an illustration. 10/10.
3) Katarina and Cezar finding out the other is a noble (inside the bush)
This trope is so good they had to reuse it for the movie, lmao.
My headcanon is that they're hugging inside that bush during the whole conversation and I desperately need it to be the case, lol
2) The guys rescue Maria and Katarina (bonus: Jeord goes insane)
I actually thought Katarina was going to get punched in the face. When the door went flying, my immediate thought was that Cezar was about to rescue them. But for it to be Jeord? I screamed.
From Jeord's insane reaction, to Keith trembling and trying to be as gentle as possible, to Alan and Nicol keeping their cool and the situation under control, and try to prevent the killing of foreign nobility and a huge diplomatic mess. The whole scene is packed with a lot of intensity.
I vividly remember not believing what I was reading. I was left a mess, fangirling so hard I couldn't stop nervously laughing.
AND THAT ILLUSTRATION HOLY SHIT.
1) Katarina and Jeord's aftermath talk
It's no secret to anyone following me that I ship GeoKata, and that I love Jeord with all my heart.
He's never seen himself as a good person, nor as a perfect prince, but he has always thought of himself as this capable man, that can do and get whatever he wants if he puts his mind into it. This made him feel dull. To not be interested in anything, nor to feel emotions in general.
Katarina came to wreck his world view, yes. But even then, he's always thought of himself to be in control of the situation. That she'll be his in the end.
But his view of himself was wrecked in the aftermath. He realized he held emotions he couldn't control: rage, disgust, pain. It shook him to his core, to the point where he didn't want to see Katarina at all. Out of shame and pain.
He. Didn't. Want. To. See. Her.
This is prince Jeord we're talking about. The man that yearns for every second to be near the love of his life.
That's the moment I realized he had been broken.
This is the scene that I realized his love for her was even deeper than I thought. And i think he might have actually fallen in love with her even harder after this. It's because of this scene that Jeord starts to change for the best, and try to become a better man. I love how their connection is so close, so deep, and that they're the ones that understand each other the best out of the whole harem (thanks LN15 for making it more obvious).
I started loving Jeord as a character in his last POV in LN1, and became a total Geokata shipper with LN8. I could go on and on about why I love them together so much, and I hope I get to do so someday (although it's definitely easier for me to express these thoughts in Spanish, lol).
If you made it this far, thanks for reading this stupid rant, lol. I would love to hear everyone's takes on these or make your own top!
