kekeit replied to your post: QUESTION
Our church encourages soap..Scripture- a verse that stood out to you.Observation- what was going down in that verse.Application- how do you practically apply this verse..Prayer..!!! Blessings x
SOAP is the MAIN one that I've found so far, even Googling. I'll have to give it a go.
thelordsatisfies replied to your post: QUESTION
I usually just write down the verses that stick out to me. I change up my highlighting color every few months, so usually just retreading the verses I wrote is enough to remind me of what was going on in my life and why that verse stood out.
I mean.. that's pretty much what I do now. I need something more detailed... more like a guide to help me write things. Otherwise, like I said, my mind is all over the place and I forget things.
yourservantmyrock answered your question: QUESTION
So a lot of times mine is pretty scattered also, but Ill take each verse (or section) and paraphrase it and then journal what it means to me
I don't paraphrase unless I do an in-depth exegesis study of the passage first, so that would be better for my study time, not devotional time. :)
ivebeenfoundworthy answered your question: QUESTION
I usually find a verse that sticks out and then write it out and what it implies.
I feel like this is more for when I study the Scripture, not just reading it devotionally. But that's something that I already do. I don't really know how to explain what I'm looking for. ha
timealwaysseemstomelt answered your question: QUESTION
i like to right the verse its self down first if and stick out in my reading and then i write about why its important and in the bible.
Again, this is along the lines of what I already do, but thanks for the suggestion. :)
smilingatthefuture answered: Date, passage reference, main verses that stuck out to me, what i was thinking coming into the passage, new observations, application, prayer
So pretty much the SOAP method? I'll have to try that out. I guess what I need are guidelines... like.. questions that will lead me to think deeper about the Scripture and such.
