Fic Rec Friday  2.1

Happy New Year (a couple weeks later)! Starting out the year with a reset of the numbering system and a return to reading really freaking long fics. I’ve been reading a 150K+ fic all week, so this rec list will probably be a lot shorter than it could have been. Also, if anyone has some fave Stucky recs, I’d love it if you sent them my way!

Captain America:

Tall, blond hottie (in a sweater) was back, staring at the wall of new and popular titles with a thoughtful expression on his face. He came in every Tuesday night like clockwork, read through the summaries on the back of a handful of books with his profile turned just enough towards the front entrance that Bucky could see the slope of his nose and take joy in watching those arm muscles minutely flex as he shifted the book in his grasp.

Steve is an attractive library patron who is far too competent to ever ask librarian!Bucky questions. Bucky likes that in a man.

One moment he’s checking the rounds on his handgun and thinking about the promise of food back at base and then he’s lying in a heap of burning rubble and everyone’s screaming. Later, he’ll figure out that it was a IED that took his team and his arm. Later, he’ll have time to mourn and scream and cry.

Or, Bucky wakes up to various, more than unfortunate events over and over again, until he wakes up and everything's okay.

Bucky Barnes doesn't go through the change from the asset to James to Bucky again step by step. It happens, though. He saves Captain America and doesn't know why. He goes to Captain America when he's hurt and near death, and he thinks he knows why. He leans on Steve, and lets Steve lean on him while they both heal (together), and he definitely knows why.

Steve Rogers lives in denial. He's not depressed. He didn't really try to kill himself on the Valkyrie. He's not suffering from PTSD. He's not in love with his best friend - the one who is also known as the Winter Soldier. He's not any of these. (He's all of them.)

Or; Bucky and Steve learn to be Bucky and Steve again, not the Winter Solider and Captain America. (They do it together.)

Teen Wolf:
