I was doing research for my Killian-as-a-kelpie-on-Chincoteague fic, and stumbled on this site here, with the names of the island ponies.

I picked up a book from my library's sale shelf called "The Scorpio Races," in which people race kelpies/water horses.

Man...these things are savage. Imagine all the issues of a horse, but it wants to eat you. And if your horse doesn't eat you, the one behind you will.

My kelpie!Killian fic suddenly sounds a lot more interesting...

My current WIP

Selkie!Emma and kelpie!Killian.

I was trying to make it similar to the artwork from "Misty," since he's a Chincoteague pony, but, eh.

Okay, not quite, since Killian's kelpie form is a black paint, and a good chunk of his foreleg will be missing, since the wrist equivalent is at the pony's knee. But you get the idea.
