Domestic (Kendra x Reader) Imagines - Anonymous Request
A/N:
To be honest, I don't know much about Kendra and I haven't really paid a lot of attention to her (sorry!) but I did try my best to stay close to her character’s personality as best as I could. If anyone would like to make comments/suggestions as to how I can improve Kendra’s character, I would be more than grateful.
It's your first night back on the Waverider with Kendra after the two-year incident, and you were cooking dinner…
“Hey, ________,” Kendra walked up behind you and wrapped her arms around your waist. “What’re you cooking?”
You couldn't help but smile. “Your favorite, of course.”
“Cajun steak?” She asked.
You nodded. “With a side of mashed potatoes and green beans.”
“Sounds amazing,” she sighed.
Standing on her tippy-toes, Kendra leaned over and pressed her lips against your cheek. You couldn't help but return the favor.
She was the best thing that ever happened in your life. And in the time that you were stranded, the two of you grew to love each other even more.
Life with her was just comfortable.
Like nothing in the world could go wrong and, even in slight off chance that it did, she would be there to catch you when you fall.
She just made everything so worthwhile.
Scooping up a little of the sauce, you raised the wooden spoon up to her mouth. “Want a taste?”
Blowing gently, you took a moment or so to let the sauce cool down before pressing the spoon against her lips. She tipped her head back slightly to let the warm liquid run down her throat before letting out a satisfied hum.
“Mmm,” she cuddled closer to you as you replaced the spoon back into the pan. “I always said you were the better cook.”
“Aww,” you placed your hands on top of hers. “Now, you're just making me blush.”
Someone coughed. “What’s going on?”
Jumping slightly, the two of you turned in the direction where the voice came. There, standing in the doorway of the kitchen, were Sara, Mick and Jax. From the sound of it, it was Sara who asked the question.
Kendra smiled. “We’re just cooking dinner.”
“I can see that,” She nodded, glancing between you two. “It smells delicious, by the way.”
“Doesn't it?” Kendra chirped, raising her head, absolutely proud to have you as her spouse. “________ always made the best meals.”
“You’re telling me,” Mick clutched his stomach hungrily. “When do we get to eat?”
Everyone turned to face him, curiously. He didn’t seem to notice the change in atmosphere, as he stared at you and Kendra expectantly.
You smiled apologetically.
“Sorry, man,” you said, watching the pyromaniac tilt his head. “I only made enough for both of us. We’ve been living together for so long, I only know how to cook enough for just two people.”
Kendra shrugged. “Sorry, Mick.”
The six-foot tall man grumbled irritably. “So you mean to tell me that you guys don’t share?”
This turn of events was completely not what you intended. As if sensing the possible hostile situation that could develop, Jax stepped in and placed a hand on Mick’s arm to ward him off.
“What I think he means to say is,” he started gently, racking his brain, “He’s happy you guys have each other. We all are.”
Sara nodded appreciatively. “Congratulations, by the way.”
Both you and your adoring spouse smiled, relieved of the quick turn of events. “Thanks,” you nodded to all of them. “That’s really sweet of you.”
“No problem,” she shrugged. “In any case, we’ll leave you two alone.”
And with that, the three of them left the room with Jax dragging Mick behind. Once the kitchen settled in its quiet, serene state, your lovely darling leaned in and gave you another quick peck on the cheek.
“I’ll get the plates,” she volunteered happily.
You nodded. “And I’ll get the drinks.”
The evening continued on with very little interruption, as you and Kendra found yourself settling down to a wonderful dinner, talking about how each of your day went and the latest events you had going on with the timeline.
