Ursa as a Mother to Kenji and Torres

I just realized we never see the mothers of Kenji and Torres, we only see them interacting with their fathers.

And we see how Ursa loses her child in her quest for revenge and that strips her of her will to live, only truly regaining it when she begins seeing Kenji and Torres as her own.

Despite Ursa not fitting into the stereotypical mold of a mother, she is fiercely protective and loving. Fighting as hard as she did against the predator because she wanted to return to her son and save him if she still could and not hesitating to engage the King predator in a fight in order to protect Kenji and Torres, sacrificing herself without a second thought to ensure their escape.

We see two men without a mother and a mother without her child.

The scenes where she sees Anders reflected in Torres and when she tries to save Kenji from the King are everything to me.

Kenij's perspective on torres and ursa has to have been a JOURNEY for him in fact , the entire third act was probably wild from his perspective

He meets ursa first. we don't know if he was put in the room first or not, but he definitely met her. And was like , okay , obviously, this is another warrior who defeated one of these demons. Just look at her.

And then the door opens again, and this time, a little shrimp comes in [affectionate] clearly very relieved and chattering. And kenji shot in the dark on him speaking japanese has to ask, "You killed a demon?" And he responds!! In japanese!!!! But his accent is terrible. The only clear thing is his name , and he rambles about fish. so kenij's all alright, This interaction is a bust, and im going insane

And then they're arena and told to fight each other after being given a demonstration , on what exactly the collars around their necks do, and they're all given "weapons of their tribe" and kenji looks over after assessing his sword and sees that lady warrior has a fuck off gigantic axe, understandable, makes sense and that tracks with her energy. Little shrimp does not seem to recognize the weapon of his tribe and is clearly baffled and disappointed by it. And then , when ursa comes after him with the axe , he does nothing but fall down, completely fail to use the weapon and then curl into a ball, and kenji makes the decision to save him, but has to ask him "still alive?" Because what do you mean You don't understand the weapon of your tribe?, your first thing when confronted with another Warrior is to fall down in a little ball? Like, how did you defeat a demon? How are you here? Truly baffling, then points up at King Demon, and makes some kind of gesture that does not look murdery but does seem to agree that teamwork is the answer and appears to have some kind of plan so maybe he knows something

Ursa appears to agree and then attacks again so she's not quite as keen on the teamwork , but hey , maybe the two of them can figure something out to de-escalate and organize so kenij trys telling torres no to attack and then torres jumps on her back and is almost immediately stunned and he has to save him from her AGAIN

kenji HAS to be getting SICK of these two at this point, but he's still not going for the kill with ursa ,But then torres finally figures out his weapon and disarms ursa, and she immediately chills out [which is fucking hilarious when you don't have the context of the flashback] and communicating again , before getting eaten whole by a beast , so there goes torres but hey!! Ursa's on board with the teamwork now, and they make short order of the beast!!! Great!!!

And never mind, she's STILL trying to kill him whatever he finally gets her in a hold and very clearly and intentionally spares her because he's over this whole fighting bullshit she is not,but won't kill him when He's not fighting so clearly she has some standard of honor

Kenji, at this point, has fully accepted his death

But then he doesn't?? [He looks soo disappointed in his continued survival, which is devastating]

And torres is STILL ALIVE??? what??? and with a severed demon arm??? , okay , maybe this guy does know how to fight?? And is riding the aliens cart thing??? How?? This has to be why he here.

Teamwork is FINALLY HAPPENING, except when they pull up to fight the demon King torres once again runs away he's not gonna worry about right now. He's got ursa with him, and they do good for about thirty seconds to a minute simultaneously and quite easily pinned but luckily , it turns out the demon king has also forgotten about torres and somehow he's figured out their flying ship[ probably something that he's Not thinking about too hard , because this survival first figuring out what the fuck is going on later] they board he loses an arm and probably also his grip on reality, ursa jumps off to free them from the anchor

And cannot interpret that final line of "you Did it brother" as any other way then "bro what the fuck , how???"
