KEPIKEI - BACK TO SCHOOL EP
Slovakian techno knight Kepikei returns to Top Billin with 4 killer cuts. Inspired by the Berlin and Detroit techno culture, still yet enough London to have the hints of garage and bass music in the mix.
Bass slovaque. Sombre.
Can't go wrong with bass-heavy techno with a splash of ghetto vibes to keep things interesting. The twisting synth line reminds me a lot of Boddika and Joy Orbison's Mercy VIP, so buckle up because this one's a banger.
KEPIKEI - NEVERMIND THE XXX
Flea Market by Kepikei
Bratislava-based producer Kepikei isn't a name familiar to most people yet, only having a few releases (past and future) on labels such as Top Billin' and his own Sonic District imprint. However, the man's productions stand out from within the European 'Bass' contingent through his sinister, yet club-friendly approach. This particular cut is a prime example, taking equal inspiration from 80s Electro (spot the sample) and the darker equivalents of German and London club music - to blend into one hell of a heater. In advance of his appearance on a NeoViolence and Top Billin' compilation, the NeoViolence crew have generously offered this jam up for the measly sum of a Facebook 'like.' Keep an eye out for the name Kepikei in 2013.
