Kia ora koutou. So yesterday a friend was telling me about how they lost a bunch of weight on the ketogenic diet. I’m not at all interested in fad diets, especially such restrictive diets, but I’ve been reading up on it and the science seems sound - and the friend who told me about this is someone I trust to know what she’s talking about. She did tell me that it’s hard to do will sticking to a vegetarian (or in my case, pescetarian) diet - I could consider adding SMALL amounts of CERTAIN TYPES of meat in the short term, but I would prefer to remain pescetarian or even vegetarian. There seem to be a lot of good resources on the internet for doing the keto diet vegetarian, I’ve even found a really good resource with a meal plan and recipes that seems to be really doable. The reason I want to try this diet in particular, when I loathe fad diets and have a tendency to fall into eating disordered patterns with traditional restrictive diets, is that this one is supposed to be especially good for people with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I know that my difficulty with weight loss is hugely related to my insulin resistance as someone with PCOS. The ketogenetic diet is supposed to be really excellent at reducing other PCOS symptoms as well as helping with weight loss, especially with excess weight that is related to PCOS (and this is applicable to me since most of my extra weight is carried around my abdomen, as is typical with PCOS)
