🔆Hey yalll, I have been a slacker with posting the past two days, but my anxiety was a little high, mainly because I was going to have a jury duty, but turns out I don't have to go at all. Which is great, but at least, I dont have to miss work and I get my hours this week. . 🥗Any who, I ate really well yesterday 1. I had scrambled eggs with shredded cheese and a sausage from @aldiusa patty and SF ketchup by @ghughessugarfree. 2. I had some cashews 3. I had Kung Pao chicken from @keto.connect 4. I had cashews and Pork rinds 5. Meatballs with zoodles 6. I had pork rinds and a buffalo chicken dip . 🏋️♀️I feel like I ate a lit l, but there are days when I barely eat at all, especially on the weekends. So don't my meals to heart, but make your meals your own. My Jungle Monster
Okay, I'll admit it.
I had pepperoni rolls last night. Yes, I was hungry, it was 10 pm, I hadn't had dinner and I was well overdue for a trip to the grocery store and didn't have time to cook AND the only places open at that time are pizza places. And honestly, I don't know if there is anything sadder than the limp wave of a pizza place's lettuce as it wilts away from you. It's the stuff that they put in those things that they call salads but really should be called "I put uncooked pizza toppings on sad iceberg lettuce."
So I figured "what the hell? It's only some pepperoni and cheese... with bread wrapped around it."
See, the thing is I feel awesome when I am committed to keto but the second I start letting myself drift a little bit BAM! I feel worse than just being unhealthy - all these cravings come back and I feel crappy because I have this jungle beast of a cravings monster inside of me and all the old familiars - bread, cake, chocolate, ice cream - really don't make me feel any better. They make me feel worse and then, to top it off, my cravings monster is all miffed and pissed since it had a certain expectation and then was really let down.
This is also a similar thing I have experienced with smoking for a while. I love the comfort of believing I have something there that I can turn to if I really need a "win" moment but then when I give in it's really not what I remember or what I want. I've been on the keto diet for MONTHS and it doesn't seem to erase the idea of the cravings. To break with the jungle monster metaphor for a moment: I feel like my cravings are this big, whining baby that cries over a toy it wants and then, when I finally just give him the toy, he's no longer interested and now wants a new toy. Boo, you whore.
I think for me this is the biggest pitfall of the low carb diet - your body needs a pretty disciplined diet in order to reap all the benefits. It's like a person with Celiacs who's trying to be gluten free but then still has a muffin every month - the body doesn't have time to "cleanse" from the gluten in between the weak moments so you'll always feel like crap even though you're being good about 90% of the time.
Anyways, this is me crawling back on to my wagon (and searching for low-carb pizza roll recipes like the hobbits looking for Mordor) and no shame. It was what it was and now I want back on the keto train!
