Kexin é a filha mais nova dos Zhao, nascida e criada em Harbin a vida da garota nunca foi simples e nem fácil. As irmãs perderam sua mãe enquanto ainda eram crianças, Kexin tinha apenas 2 anos de idade. E o seu pai… bom, quando a senhora Zhao faleceu pode-se dizer que elas também o perderam naquele dia, a partir de lá o homem nunca mais foi o mesmo.

De início era normal que não só as duas irmãs mas também todos ao redor delas pensassem que era normal o patriarca estar agindo estranho, o processo do luto poderia ser doloroso, lento e complicado. Só que conforme o tempo passava não se via uma melhora, na verdade as coisas só pioraram. O homem era viciado em bebidas alcoólicas e jogos de aposta, gastando mais dinheiro do que deveria nesse tipo de coisa enquanto suas filhas eram negligenciadas e precisavam se virar sozinhas com o que sobrava. Kexin tinha sorte de ter a mais velha consigo, se não fosse por ela talvez a pequena não tivesse aguentado tanto tempo. A chinesa se esforçava em seus estudos e engajava em atividades extracurriculares, sabia que dinheiro sempre seria um problema então tentava muito ser a melhor no que fazia para um dia conseguir começar uma graduação em engenharia aeroespacial e ganhar bolsas que a ajudassem a pagar a mensalidade, com esse sendo seu maior sonho.

Kexin sempre foi uma criança diferente das outras, e quando se tornou mais velha o diagnóstico de transtorno do espectro autista não chegou como uma surpresa, mas fez a chinesa se sentir melhor ao saber que tinha uma explicação para ela ser do jeito que era. Só que era difícil seguir com o seu tratamento e buscar ajuda quando seu pai continuava a gastar todo o dinheiro da família e os encher de dívidas de uma forma que ficava impossível de lidar. A garota apenas teria que se virar e tentar sobreviver da forma que conseguia; não era como se ela odiasse seu pai, apenas não entendia o motivo de ele a odiar. Talvez por ser muito parecida com sua mãe e ser a última coisa que ela deixou no mundo antes de partir? Não sabia dizer. Até aquela noite onde tudo mudou.

O homem chegou em casa machucado, revirando tudo que encontrava pela frente e se trancando em seu quarto, saindo de lá apenas com uma mala em mãos. As irmãs não entenderam o que estava acontecendo e ele não explicou, apenas falando que “ia consertar o que fez mas precisava de tempo”, indo embora com um “até logo” que as duas logo perceberam ser uma mentira. Dias se passaram, e então semanas, e então meses… com as irmãs precisando cuidar de si mesmas e da casa até o momento em que alguns homens bateram em sua porta, e então elas descobriram o problema. Seu pai havia pedido dinheiro com agiotas e não tinha como os pagar de volta então fugiu, só que agora essa dívida havia caído na mão das duas porque “alguém precisava pagar”.

No começo, realmente tentaram. Foram obrigadas a fazer pequenos serviços aqui e ali, “entreguem isso pra pessoa X tal hora em tal lugar” e outros tipos de coisa. Mas as garotas tinham plena noção do que faziam e do que estavam entregando, sabia que se algo de ruim acontecesse quem sofreria as consequências seriam elas. Então, tal pai tal filho, elas planejaram fugir. Kexin desistiu de todas suas vontades, desejos e sonhos, mais uma vez tendo sua vida roubada de si. As Zhao juntaram suas coisas, o máximo que conseguissem levar em pouca bagagem, saindo da China e pegando o primeiro avião para qualquer lugar, e esse lugar foi Seul, pulando de bico em bico para tentar se manter e morando em pequenos e sujos banjiha aqui e ali enquanto tentavam se acostumar com a cultura e idioma diferente. Ambas tentam se manter na encolha, não falando sobre seu passado e nunca dizendo de onde vieram ou o motivo para terem se mudado, talvez fosse melhor assim.

Com o tempo, Kexin conseguiu um bom emprego em um estúdio de piercings e tatuagens, fazendo valer a pena os cursos e certificados que lutou para conseguir. Era um bom trabalho, apesar de estar longe de ser seu sonho pelo menos recebia uma grana boa o suficiente para se manter e ajudar em casa, não querendo deixar todo o peso em cima de sua irmã. Inclusive, graças ao trabalho conseguiram um desconto para morar em Acropolis, alugando um apartamento no bloco mais barato do conjunto e finalmente passando a viver em um local mais limpo e digno.

A vida da chinesa ainda é uma bagunça. Tem dificuldades para se expressar, quando sente algo sente com intensidade demais, não sabe onde está seu pai e perderam contato com o resto da família, sente constante frustração por não conseguir realizar nenhuma de suas vontades e apenas luta para sobreviver, assim como vive com medo de em algum momento aqueles de quem fugiram acabem conseguindo as encontrar… segue seus dias com um peso em suas costas e a cabeça cheia. Porém, nem que seja apenas pela sua irmã, Kexin vai tentar mais um pouco.

Legend of the White Snake - Episode 8

Jing Song, trying to put oil on the fire on purpose, poor Xu Xian, being framed like this, when he never thought of Ruyi that way and only thinks of Suzhen. Oh no poor Xu Xian. When he asks if there’s nothing to keep her in Ling’An she says  that they would part way is the natural course of things. He doesn’t know about his brother in law helping his master acting to please Ruyi and that thus she would answer like this, so he believes she’s not into him. This is so heartbreaking. She says she will never come back... He’s so sad, but still keeps a calm face and gives her back her umbrella. She doesn’t want it back, since it’s still raining, but he insists and tells her to stay safe. That guy TT He breaks my heart.

Then as Suzhen gets back on the boat, Qing Er notices that there are words graved on the umbrella. Qing Er. Can I marry you? Xu Xian engraved this, and basically, it’s a kind of riddle in which he tells her he likes her. As she reads it, Suzhen leaves the boat. Jing Song drinks his tea angrily.

This is so cute, I am crying. On the bridge that crosses the West lake Xu Xian stays in the rain and while his eyes are closed, somebody comes close with an umbrella and covers him from the rain.

But just a minute. I just realized now. How come there is already the West Lake? West Lake is something that happened after they get married, I mean in the original legend Suzhen fights with Fahai and ends up flooding villages which creates Xihu. I am confused right now! But, I am not going to ruin the moment with those thoughts.

Naturally, it’s Suzhen and they look so happy. He hugs her awwww. So cute. He asks her how she’s not worried about leaving, she says tomorrow there’s still a boat. He says he’ll go with her. She says no need to send her off, but he means that he will leave with her. He just want to be with her, to take her of her. He can promise that she will always have clothes to wear, food to eat. He’s so sweet. She asks about his engagement and he tells her he never was engaged to anyone and the only person he wants to be with is her. Why are you making me crying so much. He’s basically asking her to marry him. How cute.

Oh no Qing Er. You are always perfect and I always want to see you but you know what? I didn’t want you to come out right now TT You broke the moment. Anyways, he invites them to come to his place for desert and Qing Er agrees right away. However, Suzhen tells her about the dagger that Li Gongfu holds onto and they decide to go back home. Xu Xian is going to take them home. Then he calls her Suzhen which makes Qing Er confused. Anyways, Suzhen wants to send him back home and seeing that they are looking to send each other home,  so Qing Er just decides to invite him to spend the night. He first wants to refuse because Qing Er told him earlier that the rules of the Bai family are really strict, but Suzhen convinces him to stay. Anyways, she doesn’t want to part with him.

Qing Er underlings gave cold water to Xu Xian for his bath and thus prepared ginger soup for him. I am jealous. Ginger soup is the best, especially when you are sick. As he sees that Suzhen’s hand is cold, he wants to make her drink it, but since he has a cold, she still wants him to drink it. Well, if she doesn’t drink it, he won’t drink it either. So she drinks half of it and hands the bowl back to him. He looks so flustered, how cute. I would pinch his little cheeks. Poor Suzhen, she doesn’t understand why he would be se red, she fears he caught a fever. I love how naive she is.

So Kexin, the nine-tail-fox, tries to kill Li Gongfu but he’s a really lucky guy I believe. He first avoids it by chance and right after the dagger chases after her and she finds refuge in Suzhen’s residence. That ugly girl knocks on Xu Xian’s door. I feel new misunderstandings coming our way... Why ): They just made up...

Yikes. When he wants to go tell the officers she was chased by bandits in the mountain, she won’t let him go, pretending she’s afraid. She tries to come closer to him and even offers to sleep with him. But he moves quickly away. Go Xu Xian. Don’t let her trick you. YAY! Xu Xian <3 I knew you are to smart to be tricked. He doesn’t believe in her tale and knows the door was locked. So as he was about to get out, she tries to hurt him but unfortunately for her, Suzhen was just coming right in and she uses her magic to repel her. Suzhen runs after her and she won’t let Xu Xian. By the way... since when does he have a sword? I have never seen him having one hanging at his hips? I am really confused right now ._____.

Anyways, they end up not being able to catch that fox lady, but they will meet again for sure since now she has eyes on Suzhen’s core and wants to eat it to gain more power. Jing Song is really unhappy that Suzhen leaves everything behind for this man that can’t protect her, but she says that as long as he has that goal in mind, she’s satisfied.

He’s worried that she was scared and she pretends that she is a little bit. Awww. He offers to keep her company until the day is bright, then it will be less scary.

Next morning, Ruyi is waiting for Xu Xian at the pharmacy and right as he comes in, Li gongfu comes to bring him some dry clothes. He then takes him apart and asks him if he likes Suzhen and if it is the case, he and his sister will take the procedures so they can get married. Ooops. They are not far away enough and Ruyi hears everything. She’s very displeased. She keeps on trying to interfere between the two of them, but she won’t have her ways.

We learn a little bit about Xu Xian’s past. When he was younger, his father was wrongly accused so his mom forced him into becoming a doctor so he won’t follow the traces of his father and will keep on living. Ruyi’s father then see the two of them holding hands and gets angry because they are not working but then somebody calls for a doctor. When he wants to treat her, they ask for the female doctor and Suzhen comes in and see the lady. To thank her for bringing her back to health, she gives her some precious gifts. Suzhen wants to refuse at first, but then mister Jin takes it in. He’s a really greedy man and now that he sees that having Suzhen around can bring more fortune to his business, he doesn’t care about what Ruyi told him and wishes for her to come more often.

Ugly fox lady leaves a note for Suzhen to go see the moon together on the bridge. Jing Song is sure some demon got inside Suzhen’s room but Qing Er says it’s only Xu Xian inviting Suzhen on a date. Then that fox lady takes Xu Xian’s appearance to court Ruyi. It’s so obvious it’s not him. Praise the actor though for his acting skills ** I love this guy.

And I wish for people to stop meddling in their love story.
