Knowing that the Kentucky gubernatorial was important for 2019 and Mitch McConnell's 2020 senate election, I donated to the Kentuckians for the Commonwealth to mobilize the voters and fight voter suppression. They sent me their newsletter. 

Only 42% of registered Kentuckians voted. 

It was a close race with Beshear getting 49.2% and Bevin reaching 48.8%.

But the stand out is that 58% registered Kentuckians DIDN'T vote. 

So seriously, as Mitch McConnell's seat is up for grabs in 2020 and Kentucky needs progressive downballots as well, donate to something like KFTC so they can mobilize even more

KFTC rightfully doesn't blame the registered non-voters but emphasizes a responsibility to help marginalized folks to reach the polls in a heavily voter-suppressed state. It's also a reminder that canvassing, knocking on doors, throwing voter registration drives at parades and events, increasing voter literacy is as important as the act of voting itself.

President Trump will headline a fundraiser for Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin which is tied to Mitch McConnell's 2020 reelection

President Trump will visit Louisville on behalf of Matt Bevin's reelection campaign next week, headlining an Aug. 21 fundraiser for the governor.

Hate Mitch McConnell and waiting for 2020 to help Amy McGrath or some other Kentuckian to kick Mitch off his seat? You’re gonna have to pay attention to this 2019 election and consider helping Kentucky fight voter suppression.

Note, Donald Trump's fundraiser for Kentucky Governor Bevin's reelection this November 5, 2019 is linked to his desire to keep Mitch McConnell around. There are ways to fight this.

If Kentucky Attorney General and KY Democrat Governor candidate Andy Beshear unseats Trump-endorsed and Mitch McConnell-endorsed Governor Bevin, Kentucky can have more voting rights for 2020 to kick off Mitch. In addition, the Secretary of State election will determine who will organize the voting polls too, so look out for the democratic candidate Heather French Henry.
