So I'm getting a bit back into Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep and, uh...

Did we EVER figure out what the FUCK was up with Terra, Aqua and Ventus picking up old and rusty vers of the Kingdom Key, Kingdom Key D and Way to the Dawn in the original KH2 'Sunset Horizons' Secret Ending? (also whatever that weird mech-dragon-corpse-thing that Terra is standing on at the start?)

I mean, yeah it doesn't carry over into the Final Mix 'Fate of the Unknown' Secret Ending that was more properly foreshadowing BBS, but then Birth By Sleep proper went and put clips from BOTH those endings in its opening which gives at least an indication that this is meant to mean... SOMETHING.

So yeah, did we ever get ANY kind of official word or even just popular theory on what was supposed to be going on here?

idk if the fandom forgets it or just ignores it but the apprentices were doing horrific unethical science and experimentation, Heavily implied to be mostly on children, way before they got nobody’d

the Whole reason lea and isa were so fucking determined to get into that castle was b/c they kept hearing SCREAMING coming from the basement at night and had befriended a girl who they *knew* was in there

the apprentices were not good sweet gentle harmless souls who suddenly became evil when they lost their Hearts, they were very, very fucked up people people some insane shit under AtW’s nose, and his awareness is very unclear- it seems most likely he knew there was something sketchy happening but ill concede that even though i think he’s an ass he probably did not realize just the level of severity of shenanigans his apprentices were getting up to

hell Even’s encounter with Ventus after he saves Ienzo reads SO heavily as him quietly being like “youre incredibly lucky you saved my kid’s ass or id have you strapped down and vivisected b/c your Heart is weird”

ghostboyfriend and i have a joke that b/c of his adopted family, Ienzo grew up learning to view ppl largely through a lens of “this is family” and “this is a test subject”

in the BBS opening terra is running through the halls of castle oblivion but is ventus running through the halls of the land of departure? I never noticed until now but that’d be so cool if so

it reminds me that the first of the kh characters i liked most was Xion. like i saw namine and liked her and i saw kairi and was like 'same hat' but like Xion was the one i strongly related to when i was young even though i knew and still know almost nothing about kh.

(also apparently i have been saying xion wrong for years but i don't really wanna change it cause i like how i pronounce it....)

Kingdom Hearts was always a wierd thing for me...

I mean fricking Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse in the same damn universe as Sephiroth from Final Fantasy? It was misleading for me as a kid, but when I got into it. I never want to look back.
