Kumasi SHTS: Senior Housemaster hot for impregnating student, causing abortion

The Senior Housemaster of Kumasi Secondary Technical School has allegedly impregnated a second-year student of the school.

A pregnancy he caused her to abort.

According to Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor, Ashanti the Regional Director of Education has ordered the arrest of the senior housemaster, Samuel Patterson Asamoah.

She has also ordered his interdiction and immediate vacation from the campus…

Eps. 79: Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife Jeri, is the owner of KHTS, the hometown station of Santa Clarita and the SCV.  Carl is known throughout the SCV not just as the co-owner of the station but also for being active in the community and his work with several different non-profits.   He was voted Santa Clarita man of the year in 2008.

As the only commercial radio station in this Valley, KHTS is in both an important and powerful position for the community.  Along with SCV-TV, The Gazette and the Signal, they are they gatekeepers for the news of this valley.  As a result, there is an amazing responsibility that comes with that.  Needless to say, the way that Carl and Jeri choose to steer the ship at KHTS affects the SCV greatly.     

I had never met Carl before but I was extremely interested in meeting him. We both have a real passion and love for radio and knowing his history of involvement with the medium, I knew it would be a good conversation.

I also wanted to get his perspective on the way radio is changing and what he sees for its future.  Since the Fairness Doctrine was eliminated in 1987 under President Reagan the Telecommunications Act of 1996 was passed under President Clinton, radio has changed drastically.  Mom and pop stations (as Carl calls KHTS) have been absorbed by larger companies which have merged and merged and merged with other companies.   I was surprised by what Carl’s perspective was on these issues.  

In addition, there has been a recent, for lack of a better word, feud developing between the Signal and KHTS regarding the way the media outlets in this valley approach the news.  Carl has stated that there is a responsibility to report the news fairly and in a non-partisan way, implying that this has not necessarily been the case for other outlets. Ironically, in the past, I had heard similar allegations thrown at Carl and KHTS.   I asked him about fairness in the media and how he approaches it as well as getting responses to the allegations that I had been told about.       

I want to thank Carl for taking the time to have this conversation with me.  He and jeri are doing something extremely important by providing local radio to this community and they should be commended for doing so.
