It’s still Wednesday in California, so I was tagged by @hetrez for WIP Wednesday. I’m slowly but surely working on the next fic in the “Buck adopted a dog with the Diazes and found love~” verse (aka Kibble verse).
Buck has learned a lot of things since Kibble came into his life.
He’s learned that Chris has a natural affinity for dogs. Kibble follows him around the house, sleeps at the foot of his bed, and sits under his chair when they eat dinner at the dining room table (no matter how many times Eddie has tried to tell her to quit begging). Chris seems to know exactly when Kibble is hungry or tired or needs to go outside. It’s only been a couple of weeks since Kibble officially became a member of the household, and Buck is amazed by how close they’ve grown and how quickly it happened.
Buck has learned other things, too.
He’s learned that Eddie leaves his socks everywhere (like a total slob), that Chris likes to narrate what he’s doing to anyone who will listen (including Kibble, which is adorable) and that having a dog around is better than Buck ever could have imagined.
He’s also learned that Eddie’s morning breath is terrible.
“No,” he says firmly when Eddie tries to kiss him right after waking up.
“No?” Eddie echoes. He’s sprawled across half of the bed on his stomach, the sheet tangled around his legs, and Buck is sitting up with his back to the headboard, drinking his morning coffee. Eddie has propped himself up on his elbows and just tried to pull Buck down for a kiss, but Buck is categorically denying this request because—well, because of the morning breath.
“You should brush your teeth,” Buck tells him.
Eddie’s eyebrows rise up so high they look like they’re about to take flight.
“It’s pretty dire,” Buck adds.
Eddie stares at him for another moment, and then he collapses back into his pillow. “Fine,” he mutters as he moves to roll out of bed, “but it’s not like yours is any better.”
