The swaps here are just purely done out of fun, nothing related to ships or something else whatsoever lol
Anyway.. Here's my insights on each swap!
Kirumi and Maki
Okay there's actually some thought to this because it was the first swap that came to mind.
Basically, Kirumi is a government spy (wow) that acts as a for-hire caretaker for kids with parents that has a high (and possibly corrupted) political standing. This ties into her whole entire thing with the daughter of the prime minister and yadadada, thought it was very cool.
Maki, on the other hand, already has experience prior with housekeeping and service (wink wink Chisa). Therefore she takes up the job of becoming a maid instead of an assassin and turns out! It's stable and has a steady influx of profits! Downside is that people still think she's a cosplayer. She's also a good way to ward off creeps.
Ryoma and Himiko
I like the idea where Ryoma takes up stage magic instead of tennis. I don't know, I can imagine him shuffling cards and going "is this your card?" only to chuckle at the volunteer's reaction when they go "woahhh yeah omg how did u do thaaat"
Honestly for Himiko at first I considered giving her Kokichi's ultimate, but then decided that I should swap her with Ryoma instead just cuz. She's really good at making it seem like she's flashstepping on the court when in reality she just runs really fast, I also think that the reason she goes to jail is all because she throws some dirty tricks in an underground match one time and got fucked.
Tldr: himiko is a dirty cheater >:(
Angie and Korekiyo
I think it'd neat. Both of them has ultimates that includes each other (art being based around culture and culture being based around art) therefore it was kinda the obvious choice for me
I'd like to imagine that Angie instead explores the in-depth history of her god, Atua, while Korekiyo expresses his beliefs and interests via painting traditional murals.
Rantaro and Gonta
I also thought it'd be neat. Rantaro’s whole reason for being an entomologist was because on his sister was into bugs while Gonta became a nature's advocate because.. Because the guy grew up in the woods. What did you expect?
I changed the 'adventurer' to the nature's advocate all because I thought it would fit Gonta more. I'm pretty sure both things are, like, two different abstract ultimates but they doooo priotize the environment and such. So..
Shuichi and Kokichi
Mainly because of Shuichi angst and also because of saiouma. I also like the idea od Kokichi being an unreliable narrator that just fucks around and doesn't lock in until the few chapters approaching.
Shuichi wouldn't be proud of his title and considers himself 'unworthy' of leading the public, while Kokichi became a detective all because he wanted to figure out and see who was throwing tomatoes at his home office. DICE is both his family and staff.
Kaede and Tsumugi
Ex-protag and antagonist SWITCHES!??!!! GASP?!!?!!? But no seriously I just like the idea of it. Mastermind Kaede sounds cool in my head
Tsumugi watches some musical, piano-inspired anime one morning and goes "huh that's so cool maybe I'll learn piano" and boom while Kaede likes to cosplay as characters that know how to play instruments besides the piano!
Tenko and Kiibo
I didn't actually intended for them to swap; Kiibo and Kaede were supposed to be the pair while Tenko had Kaito but. Yeah. I rewatched Big Hero 6 and I can confirmed that is what changed my mind
Tenko would be an out-of-order fighting robot that malfunctioned and is now.. Essentially.. Less than a fighting robot more than a 'hard-kick-is-a-small-tap' robot. Backstory would be she was made for her dojo and essentially learned the ways of martial arts, only to go haywire and beat up everybody in the dojo hence why she's out-of-order.
Kiibo, meanwhile, is an underground robot fighter (in my heart he's always related to tech) like the kid in Big Hero 6. Literally that was just my entire idea for him I'm not kidding lol. He makes his own robots and shi and is apparently really good at it, the robots also learn kung-fu techniques so technically he's learning too guys
Miu and Kaito
Because. Yeah.
Miu is an aspiring trainee that is admittedly a bit too freaked to be in space, but she's smart in astrology and aerospace engineering so it's chill. Still smart, though it's notably NASA smart. I took some inspiration from Project Hail Mary too!
Kaito still likes space but spends his time in the shop because he gets to build rockets. Woaaah. It makes him feel a little bit closer to the goal he's willing to achieve. He's an engineer cuz. Rocket. Engineer. And not an inventor just cuz
