Our Jazz Fest after parties have become legendary. What happened immediately after this photograph was taken was surreal and sublime. My brother-in-love and nephew turned their trumpets up and played them to sky. It was no longer time for me to be the participant observer, I was summoned to a higher calling. We became entranced. Congo Square (coincidentally the original site of Jazz Fest) came to us. Only a week later was I able to articulate this phenomenon. They were playing to the Heavens and to our ancestors. We are still in awe and reverence.
