A question! Is Arden romanceable by trans male mcs?

Edit: Asi and Arden are now romanceable by nonbinary MCs!

Yes! Arden is romanceble by all male (he/him) MCs, which is trans inclusive. Asi is romanceble by all female (she/her) MCs. She's also a trans woman!

MCs of all genders can romance Anasha or Matthieu, who are not gender locked.

No one can romance Simon because he doesn't deserve it.

So, I know that most (if not all) of the Failtopia community on here doesn't really know about The Magnus Archives (and trust me i would LOVE to change that) but I still want your opinion on this one: For my Failtopia TMA AU, should I make the setting modern, or keep it in that weird semi-medieval Miitopia time period?

I ask this because a lot of TMA thrives because of the modern setting. It uses technology, industry, and other modern things that may not exist in Miitopia. I would love to include all aspects of it, but I'm just not sure, because it would change some of the characters.

I only really have concepts for most of them, but the designs would probably change quite a bit. Erica wouldn't wear a suit of armor, Rose might lose the princess dress, etc. It might also change the characters' stories a bit.

If I make it modern, it would still keep some things from Miitopia. For instance, Failboat is still a cat. He might just not wear the cat suit. (This part is a little self-indulgent, but it's my AU and I can do what I want, so ha.)

So, I ask you:

How should I make the setting of the Failtopia TMA AU?
