For the past 10 years, I was angered by the violence against the Palestinian community, its people and its families; and believe this injustice has to end. Part of why I haven't made a post like this before because I did not know how to address what was going on in a helpful way.

I feel guilty for not taking a stronger stance on social media over the past two months because in part, I was trying to scale back my engagement and focus on my mental health; and look at all of the details before I jumped in and made a post while supporting my peers

I wish I had done more to help others and I hope this drawing is a start while I create more. And honestly, I hope this is a wake up call for our world leaders to do better in protecting Palestine from destruction.

There are looming bills in both the Senate and the House that include billions in taxpayer dollars to Israel (not just the House). The $118 billion Senate bill includes $14.1 billion dollars going to Israel and $10 billion dollars in humanitarian aid to Gaza, the West Bank, and Ukraine. While the house is prepping a bill that is a standalone $17.6 billion dollars in aid to Israel. Much of this money has been allocated for more artillery. We're inviting everyone to message your reps this week and urge them to vote no. You can find your rep HERE. You can find your senator HERE. On the morning of Monday, February 5th, we're also posting the following on social media. We invite you to join in the campaign if you're willing. Taxpayers dollars should NEVER fund genocide. Passing this bill goes directly against the ICJ & would continue to make the U.S. complicit in the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza & the West Bank. [@your rep] as my representative, I urge you to vote NO and call for a #CeasefireNOW

Dear X, I'm writing to you today to share that I am proudly 1 of 8,000 members of the publishing community that have signed the #KidLit4Ceasefire letter to Biden urging him to take action to demand a permanent and immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the West Bank.  It has come to my attention that you are reviewing a bill that would send billions of taxpayer dollars to continue to fund Israel's genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
