Under eye circles, tired looking

Average looking in every way

Gangly

Wears metal elf ear cuffs to look elven

Ripped black shirt and trousers underneath a navy blue coat

Shoes covered in holes and dirt

Smudges and writing on arms

(The dirt and stuff can be erased with a disguise spell he uses when in the presence of others)

Hates being ordinary, and anyone who accepts mediocrity. Feels insecure and competitive with those born with magic.

VANTH CASTIBANE

Hello, and welcome to the home of

A brand new animated series by Jay, John, Franchi and Laurel.

It's less a question of if the world is ending, and more a question of when.

What is The Shattering?

The Shattering is a pre-apocalyptic animated adventure series following three unassuming anti-heroes. Kid, Vanth, and Ignis find themselves grouped together at a prestigious magical academy, in the fantasy world of Landfall, and they are quickly swept away in the religious and political machinations of those in charge.

What do you mean by “pre-apocalyptic”?

Pre-apocalyptic is a term we use to describe the world and story of Landfall. In Landfall, the Apocalypse is not only known to be real, but is also inevitable. Every child is taught The Gothic Blessing, a song depicting elder generation’s acceptance and warning of what is to come.

One day, a divine being will emerge and it will destroy everything. Some call this upcoming day the Rapture, others say it's simply Destiny; but to the Church of St. Neve, it's the beginning of the most important battle in all of history -- the war in which they kill a God and rewrite fate.

Who are the central characters?

Our three protagonists (if you can call them that) are Kidrius Smith, Vanth Castibane, and Ignis Angelus. They have each joined Jewel Academy, Landfall’s most dangerous and prestigious institution, to fulfil their various purposes.

KIDRIUS SMITH (a.k.a. Kid)

Average in every way, Kidrius Smith would sell his soul to be the greatest wizard of all time. Always an outcast, books are his one true love. His insatiable thirst for knowledge might just be the death of him.

VANTH CASTIBANE

The siren-like bombshell to all who lay eyes on her, Vanth Castibane commands control of every room she enters. She is alluring, wild, and fiery—in more ways than one. A lover to all, and a friend to none.

IGNIS ANGELUS

A mysterious, ethereal elf of high class, Ignis Angelus glides through life like a spectre. Little is known about what he likes, loves, hates, and/or fears. He tends to get under everyone’s skin with his whispers and ideas. It is clear that his mind is splintered—and the world begins to splinter around him.

Where are we?

We are in Jewel Academy, within the world of Landfall. The geography: A sea surrounded by land with a Volcano at the very center, all overshadowed by the titanic Landfall…an infinite landmass reaching into the sky beyond the stars.
