The sound of running footsteps echoed through the halls as Mikah raced toward the sound of voices. Lindir was talking to someone who wanted to speak to Ada but Mikah wanted to meet them first. Ada had gone out orc hunting, leaving the dark elf behind much to the elf’s dismay. She had never been orc hunting and Ada never allowed the elf to go out with them. Mikah wasn’t sure why and Ada never bothered explaining why yet. 

Maybe this time, she would have an answer. She skidded to a halt behind Lindir and cocked her head. Ada had just ridden up with his guard but Mikah was staring at the group surrounded by the elves. Mikah stole a glance at the old wizard, who had simply smiled and looked back at the short men in the circle. He greeted Ada like an old friend and Mikah cocked her head. When Ada invited the short men for dinner, Mikah felt Lindir grip her arm. 

“Lord Elrond knows of them.”

“Doesn’t mean I trust them.” Mikah hissed, following the elves and the dwarfs. The two youngests ones peaked an interest in Mikah. She had never met nor spoken to a dwarf and the smirks she saw them give to each other made her wonder if they were the wild children like her. 

“Oi...Wait up!”

“You know what I mean,” Fili said, nudging him gently with his elbow. He surveyed the sweeping landscape, taking special notice of his brother’s twin mountains. “They are magnificient,” he admitted, smiling a little. “But you don’t know what may be lurking out here. It’s better we move in numbers than go wandering.”
