Just realized that Ramin’s Djawadi’s Pay the Iron Price and Kill the Boy are variations of the same melody which, again, just reminds me of the many parallels between Theon and Jon’s journey... (don’t know why it took me so long to realize this but it is genius.)

GoT S8 Dark Moments Speculation

Remember how in Game of Thrones, murdering mothers and/or their children was a thing?

First, somebody tried to murder Bran by sending a catspaw with a Valyrian steel dagger. It failed because Catelyn and Summer was there to save Bran.

Then Robert wanted to send an assassin with a knife to kill D/enerys. Robert’s effort failed and it made Khal Drogo willing to attack Westeros when previously he didn’t want to yet. But then Khal Drogo died.

Then Janos Slynt killed a baby girl who was Robert’s bastard with a knife. Joffrey gave the order. All of Robert’s bastards was murdered, except Gendry. This is what first brought my attention because Ros talked about the murder of the baby girl in the same episode when Gilly’s pregnancy was foreshadowing Sansa’s.

2x02 - The Night Lands

Pregnant Talisa was murdered in the Red Wedding.

The Night King changing Craster’s babies into White Walkers.

Ramsay killed Walda and her son.

Elia and her children.

And so on...

I think in season 8, this will came back as the show’s darkest moments and I think the murder attempt will happen to Jon and Sansa’s baby. Jon’s parentage reveal made him a person with a stronger claim than D/ny to take the throne. But for him to try and take the throne, a strong catalyst is required because he’s someone who is not power hungry and a murder attempt to his child may just do it. He will try to take the throne to protect his family.

I made a speculation that Jon and Sansa will consummate their love unwed before a big battle and Sansa will have a baby from it. A baby who has a strong claim to throne and could possibly bring supports from the lords of Westeros. They didn’t make Gendry’s parentage a big deal before for nothing.

“You will make Kings rise and fall”

I don’t think that Gendry himself will make Kings rise and fall. I mean, he probably already did, through Mel’s blood magic, but I’m talking about the future here. Jon and Sansa’s son will be a bastard boy with a lot to inherit from both parents.

One of the scenes I used interpret as foreshadowing for Jon and Sansa to consummate their love before marriage was Ned and Robert’s conversation in the Kingsroad. In that same conversation, Robert was talking about sending an assassin with a knife to D/ny because of the news that she married Khal Drogo.

Then again, during a small council meeting in King’s Landing when he found out D/ny is pregnant.

By the way in another post, I connected the word whore as Sansa’s foreshadowing.

As for who will order the murder, I have in another post propose 3 possible suspect: Cersei, Night King and D/ny. I don’t need to discuss Cersei and Night King, they’re evil, period. As for D/enerys, at first I didn’t have evidence. The only thing that lead me to it is because of Emilia Clarke’s strong reaction towards her character’s story in season 8. Right now I am leaning more and more towards D/ny. She was the target at first. For her to be ordering one at the end......the irony!

Other than Jaime-Cersei-Robert, Dany-Jon-Sansa also have a parallel with Loras-Renly-Margaery. Renly was stab in the back by a shadow baby and I think this is a symbolism for D/ny to be stab in the back by Jon/Sansa’s baby.

And then finally I found some possible evidence that is more directly pointing at D/ny.

The attempt murder on Bran.

Catelyn hurt her hand holding a Valyrian steel blade trying to protect Bran. Look who got her hand hurt at exactly the same place in the same episode.

There’s a reason why D/ny’s inability to have children was brought over and over again and I think it’s not to give hints for a magical Targcest baby and it’s not even a red herring. It is indeed to emphasize her inability to produce an heir. One of those scene is coupled with her reluctance to talk about succession. So how would she feel if her nephew who is actually in line before her as heir to the throne has managed to produced an heir with a lady with a strong name? Ramsay killed his stepmother and brother because he was afraid that his baby brother will take his claim. Ramsay killing his baby brother was foreshadowed through a jonsa parallel in an episode titled “Kill the Boy”. 

And if D/ny does threaten Sansa and her child with Jon, with the possibility of her making Jon a Stark, making Jon’s child Starks instead of Targaryens, and her threat made Jon fight D/ny, then Sansa’s word to Ramsay would be really worth repeating to her

“Your words will disappear. Your house will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear”.

After all, she is the last Targaryen.

7x03 - The Queen’s Justice

In the context of the scene, it could be teasing for Jon’s parentage secret. But I think it could also be a foreshadowing for her to really be the last Targaryen.

1x01 - Winter is Coming

Because a Stark will make the last living male heir of House Targaryen, take the Stark name, making D/enerys the last Targaryen.

D/ny brought up about sending assassins for murdering babies in one of her speech towards Jon.

Her descend to darkness would be complete if this is what she would do. A Targaryen alone in the world is indeed a terrible thing.

I don’t know if the baby will survive or not, but there’s hope. Maybe Auntie No One is going to protect the baby.

Duality of Jon

I wanted to rant the hell out of this episode, but a certain idea came to me, so before I promptly forget it in a blind rage, putting it down here.

The memes about Jon not petting Ghost might be not so funny once I’m done writing this piece, but as always - I’m pretty fucking sure that I’m giving too much credit to D&D and trying to find some semblance to George’s thoughts in all of this. Thus said, let’s begin.

I think that Jon Snow’s resurrection is a red herring. When he died back in season 5, people theorised on how he would be brought back, and they were adamant that he would; one of the foreshadowings of his resurrection was the Prologue of ADwD, but one of the most popular ones - Maester Aemon’s quote:

“ Kill the boy within you, I told him the day I took ship for the Wall. It takes a man to rule. An Aegon, not an Egg. Kill the boy and let the man be born. You are half the age that Egg was, and your own burden is a crueler one, I fear. You will have little joy of your command, but I think you have the strength in you to do the things that must be done. Kill the boy, Jon Snow. Winter is almost upon us. Kill the boy and let the man be born. “

So, we see Jon gettling killed and being reborn. And we assume that this quote from Aemon was foreshadowing to it. Was it?

Let’s get to another quote from Aemon:

"Tell me, Jon, if the day should ever come when your lord father must needs choose between honor on the one hand and those he loves on the other, what would he do?"

Jon hesitated. He wanted to say that Lord Eddard would never dishonor himself, not even for love, yet inside a small sly voice whispered, He fathered a bastard, where was the honor in that? And your mother, what of his duty to her, he will not even say her name. "He would do whatever was right," he said … ringingly, to make up for his hesitation. "No matter what."

I’m getting to it, I swear. Jon doesn’t give Aemon answer, he gives him another option - not loved ones, nor duty, but what is right. He thinks that his father will choose whatever is right. But we, as a viewers and readers know, that Eddard Stark chose his family. Eddard Stark made a decision and he took this secret to his grave. He was a man. And now, for the last Aemon quote for today:

"A craven can be as brave as any man, when there is nothing to fear. And we all do our duty, when there is no cost to it. How easy it seems then, to walk the path of honor. Yet soon or late in every man's life comes a day when it is not easy, a day when he must choose."

Do you see it coming? Ned made a decision, a fucking tough one, Ned Stark wasn’t exactly a man of honour, he was a man first and foremost, where Jon is yet a boy.

He swears himself to Daenerys, and wants this relationship still, but he told her that he would tell Sansa and Arya about his lineage. Dany tells him that he shouldn’t - it would detroy them, she practically beggs him. Jon is in denial. He chooses not to choose - he holds to his word and pledge to Daenerys and tells his siblings the truth. That’s exactly his way, remember what he told Theon?

“You don’t have to choose. You are Greyjoy. And you are a Stark”.

Jon’s duality is shown again through Ghost and Rhaegal. When he leaves Winterfell, and Tormund asks why isn’t he going by dragon, Jon tells him that Rhaegal heals and he would be better withouth Jon’s weight on him, and Tormund immediatly calls on his bullshit, Jon’s weight is nothing to the full grown dragon, even injured one. And we see then Jon riding off and leaving Ghost with Tormund. Right here, in this scene, Jon once again doesn’t choose: he doesn’t choose his Targaryen side(dragon) and he doesn’t choose his Stark side (direwolf). 

I personally thought ‘kill the boy’ was a foreshadowing to his eventual death and resurrection, but now I think that it was actualy a way to tell us that his death was a red herring. Even after his death, he is still a boy. He is still unable to choose. But soon or late, the day will come. And that day is ep5 or ep6.

It takes a man to rule, not a boy. An Aegon, not an Egg. 

To become a man, he has to choose. He has to make a decision, and a tough one. And if he is to rule, he has to embrace his Targaryen side, to be an Aegon, not a Jon.

The only good thing about it is that he either lives and rules as Aegon, or, well,  dies. And that doesn’t fucking explain anything about how they gone and butchered Daenerys, trying to turn her into a mad queen in a span of two episodes, and this post could be dumped into the trash can as soon as we will see new Nights Watch come to the screens.
