OOOH! I was hoping I could eventually talk a bit more about this story, Thank you dearest Anon for asking!
There are some design notes I have been following, (which will become very important in later chapters for story reasons).
The boys in this universe follow the same standard story- theater bots placed in the Daycare due to budgeting concerns.
This means for them, however, that their costumes are more extravagant. Their harem pants for example are made of velvet; Moon has his stars embordered on his pants with rich gold thread.
Sun, never to be out staged, has golden freckles on his face that are designed to catch the light (draw the eye)
Both boys wear the same kind of satin maroon ruffles cinched around their waists; and around their necks they wear a sort of Jester Cowl (same colour) it is close to the neck joint but moves with them. Very flowy.
Now. They are surprisingly dirty - maybe not noticed from afar but up close they have dulled paint, dirt on their joints- handprints... (from the children, no one else, nope) ... even small stains on the darker parts of their costumes.
Their faces too have small indentations- around the edges of their faceplate as if something sharp was pressed against those sides and dragged down...
Moon has darkened eyes with red pupils- they can grow and contract with his attention but most of the time the pupils are small.
Both boys can contort their mouths, open their smiles, however, they usually stick to the static smile that we're all familiar with as its very important to their act on being insentient animatronics.

Overall hauntingly beautiful from afar but up close you can see some problems... Heheh, Thank you again for asking!
