It’s interesting to me how in that alternate timeline* comic, a part of the main something new comics, how aware killer is of his own “out of characterness” so to speak.
Or perhaps he’s aware, to some extent, of the extreme degree of how he has changed—or been changed, even if he’s not exactly sure of how or even maybe why.
He just knows he’s not the same to the degree he can’t recognize himself as the same person, aware of and actively questioning his own identity in certain moments.
Find it interesting how we can actually see in the main something new comics and further comics + doodles how that identity confusion and change causes him significant emotional, mental, and psychological distress—to the point he cannot truly say with confidence if something is what he really, truly, wants.
Or if it was something he made, convinced, to want—what we want, implanted into him. Not even if he truly wants Papyrus dead or not. If he truly wants to continue on the Genocide or not.
At least, back before his SOUL completely changed—by that point he probably started accepting those thoughts and desires, the role of a killer, as who he is now. rather than only what he did.
Even if he’s aware that he’s different from what or who he was, and that awareness seems to destabilize him at points. Especially when he starts to realize—remember, in a way, given how Nightmare’s control over his SOUL and its Stages likely effects Killer’s sense of continuity and connection between emotions, identity, and memory—that isn’t who, or what, he wants to be anymore. That he wants to change.
