the Designated College AU Tropes are as follows:

Caitlin Snow as the Studier(tm). She’s the top of her class and has a 4.0 GPA that she’s kept completely intact all four years of her college career. Her major? Biochem. She’s the most put together of the three of them, frankly.

Cisco Ramon as the Humanities Student(tm). He’s a music major (though he’s seriously the best when it comes to tech studies) and embodies just about every stereotype a non-STEM student can dream of. He’s super smart and a big ol’ flirt and, while he’s not a fan of parties in general, is damn good at putting away his liquor.

Ronnie Raymond as the Athlete(tm). Total jock. He’s smart when he needs to be, but otherwise, there’s not much going on upstairs. Another big flirt, though he’s completely shameless. He’s majoring in business but spends almost all of his time doing other, non-major related things with his boyfriend and girlfriend.

the ENTIRE SCHOOL knows they’re dating. like, it’s not like they hide it, really, but they’ve become kind of a legend--they’re all seniors, but they met freshman year and hit it off almost immediately. ronnie was intimidating at first (bc, aren’t all jocks??) but he softened up right away after their first semester, making sure to take a class with both of them so that he 1) got the benefit of having Smart People Friends, and 2) got to spend time with these people he thinks are SO CUTE

caitlin says “i love you” first. during their junior year, they were all cramming for their separate exams together when caitlin got a call about her father. (he’d been sick--something she kept quiet, something she didn’t want to talk about because she wasn’t ready for him to die.) she ran out of the room half-crying, muffling her sobs so that no one in the library would hear her. cisco and ronnie ran out after her, dropping their studying to console and comfort her. later on that night, when she’s curled up between the two of them, tissues sitting on ronnie’s stomach as he tucks a lock of hair behind her ear while cisco has his lips pressed to her knuckles, she murmurs “i love you” in a scratchy voice--“i--i couldn’t do this without you.”

cisco writes songs for them all the time and performs them at the school’s underground shows. he changes their names sometimes--sometimes, though, he doesn’t even try to hide it, grinning as he sings about wanting to fuck one or the other into the mic while the student body just jams along.

“They’re not answering the phone.” Westhallen

Eddie swipes a thumb over the screen, hanging up on the call before it can ring out to voicemail. His hand is shaking, phone desperately trying to clatter out of his grip.

Caitlin grabs his wrist, taking the phone carefully before it can meet the ground. He glances up at her, pleadingly.

“They’re not answering the phone,” he says hoarsely, his throat burning and eyes stinging. His chest too tight - /too tight./

“They’re going to be okay,” she replies soothingly.

"The last time neither of them answered the phone was because a tsunami was going to over take the city, Cisco was killed, and Barry travelled in time," he says all in one breath, feeling dizzy. "Zoom -," he chokes. "Zoom's out there. What could happen now?"

"Nothing," Caitlin responds, sounding more confident than she looks. "He's got Iris, he's got Cisco. They're going to be okay," she repeats.

"You get a hold of Cisco yet?" Eddie asks. God, his heart's going to pound right out of his chest, a hummingbird's thumbing against his ribs.

She bites her lip. "...no," she has to admit. "It keeps ringing out."

He hates this. He hates waiting on the sidelines, waiting for Iris and Barry to come home from whatever fight they've launched themselves into. His power still too new, Caitlin's powers still too new, too unreliable to be out in the field.

But with Zoom - with Zoom out there, he feels the anxiety and terror climbing every moment that goes by that they don't hear from the trio.

Zoom already broke Barry, broke him down to someone who barely trusts his legs to work even thought he's been a month with no set backs. That's what brought Iris and Cisco into full realization of their powers. Them protecting Barry.

But now? Cobalt Blue from Earth-2, brought in especially to torment Iris and Barry. Killer Frost from the same earth to go against Cisco and Ronnie - whenever they might get Ronnie back from wherever Doctor Light whisked him off to.

They're at a disadvantage. A horrible, horrible disadvantage.

who takes longer showers?

cisco and ronnie both prefer the rain (cisco because it’s soothing, ronnie because it reminds him that not everything has to burn). caitlin prefers the warmth of the sun.

what’s their favorite place to go together?

they go to conferences and lectures together because they are giant nerdy nerds :)

who’s more likely to be voted prom royalty?

ronnie was definitely popular in high school and actually was voted prom royalty. caitlin is probably next most likely because she’s hella gorgeous in a dress and heels and she has that icy aloof thing going for her. cisco is just way too nerdy to win that kind of popularity contest.

do they celebrate anniversaries, etc.?

they do! usually at home with a quiet dinner and meaningful gifts.

who’d pressure the other into singing karaoke?

oh, caitlin is all about pressuring them into karaoke. ronnnie is almost as terrible at singing as she is and he’s always the first to cave and get on stage. cisco has a beautiful voice but he would much rather sing in the shower or sing his partners to sleep at night.

what’s their nightly routine?

they take turns brushing their teeth and going to the bathroom and then they curl up in bed with something to read (each of them always has something that they are reading). sometimes, when they’re all too wound up to sleep, cisco will sing for them. (works every time.)
