He liked you so much, and it took forever to find someone he didn’t actually mind, so that was great, and it just kinda never came up in conversation.” she explained standing in front of her ex, trying to defend how she had never informed her father that they were no longer together. Her father who had been insisting that the two come visit for the upcoming holiday. “Please just come with me. You know the Estate is huge, you can sneak into a different room to sleep, you don’t have to even look at me when he’s not around, just please don’t make me go there alone...”

Nimble fingers curled around the clear glass, lifting it to her parted lips; simultaneously, she tipped her head back as the bronze liquid slithered closer to her mouth. She swallowed more than half of the Scotch whisky, the muscles in her face barely twitching as the spicy flavor washed down her throat - she was used to the burning, it was a form of comfort now.

The off-duty detective set the almost empty glass back down on the counter and motioned for the bartender to fill ‘er up, he obliged - she wasn’t drunk yet. Tipsy, maybe, but not drunk enough. Her jaw locked and teeth gritted as she watched the glass being filled, a twinge of irritation gnawing at her. She felt the gaze before snagging a peek out of her peripheral vision of someone staring at her. Not giving a crap about who it was, hence why she didn’t look, the detective barked,

“I don’t appreciate being gawked at. Unless you want your eyes swollen shut, I suggest you put them elsewhere.”

Kimberly stared at him as he started to put his tie back on, tying it as though it hadn’t just been in her mouth gagging her. Her hazel eyes stared at him and she ran a hand through her tousled red locks. “You could stay longer, ya know?” she started, standing up, her underwear currently the only thing on her body. “You know she’s nothing compared to me.” she murmured, as she got onto her knees in front of him, her fingers moving over his bare thighs. “She’s probably already asleep and “too tired”’ she said in a whiny voice that he had mimicked of his wife before. “C”mon, a few more hours. She won’t even know.” she said, her voice low as she leaned forward and pressed a slow lazy kiss to the inside of his thigh. “You know you want to.”

Kimberly hardly ever let anyone see her dressed down like this. So when she heard the knock at her door it startled her, and she had to push her glasses back up the bridge of her nose. “Oh my god, what are you doing here!?” she hissed, even as she stood to go open the large sliding glass door. “I didn’t think you were actually coming over...”

“Don’t have time to eat right now, I need to get to work - I’ll just pick up something on the way.”

A lie, of course. She won’t forget so much as she just won’t pull over anywhere as she doesn’t have the patience to wait at the moment, thus meaning there’s a good chance she won’t eat at all until maybe late tonight.

Kimberly couldn’t help but laugh as the other had a complete look of shock on their face. “I told you I know how to shoot!” the dirty redhead said with another small laugh. She could understand how it could be surprising considering her figure and her temperament. But her father had insisted she learn, and as their targets had rolled forward it was obvious she could probably teach the other a few things. “Don’t be embarrassed.” she pleaded, setting the safety on her pistol and setting it down as she squeezed the other’s arm. “I’ve had years of practice believe it or not.”
