while OSC is truly an unpleasant fellow, one of the worst, very little of it filters through to his books, probably because he wants to sell them after all, oh sure there is plenty of unpleasantness but no more than your average action sci fi, much more forgivable than say catcher in the rye or ayn rand where liking the author or work is some sort of statement =S if that makes sense?

I dislike Ender’s Game mostly for its political content & message, completely divested from the views of its author (although I do think they’re in line in the Manifest Destiny-militarist libertarian complex they represent). Quite like Catcher in the Rye. These kinds of books are much more of a turn-off than (say) The Fifth Sacred Thing (see my rant here), which is a poor representation of actually not awful ideas. (ps weezly14 sorry to hate on a book I know we disagree on......but I just hate it so much.....@ anyone who likes EG though, you are my sworn enemy)

so. I was hanging with my bffs flawsinthevoodoo & iamsomanythings & kimdolion, assembling furniture at 8pm on a friday, as you do

and I became sleepy. so sleepy. I needed to go home and sleep. in part because it's rude to sleep at someone's house with no warning and in part because they have no furniture to sleep on

but. but the train was delayed. so delayed. so so delayed. and so I got home later. so much later. so delayed

and my body rolled over into "ok, we need sleep but it's not happening so there must be a CRISIS so NO SLEEPING" mode

so. instead of sleeping I just applied for two jobs.

if I end up getting a job because that train was delayed I swear to fucking

I wish I could be of any amount of help beyond long distance support but know that you have that at least! <3

Where I'm at is like mini Bible belt, there are churches everywhere, unfortunately none of them have rainbow flags. 

But I looked into United Church of Christ and it seems ok, and I found one near me (like 20 minutes) and their site says they're the only open and affirming church in the area so, I guess I'll be trying them out next week.
