is it hard getting the motivation to draw everyday?? i may need to take a leaf out of your book and start a blog to force myself into it. I have a few questions which you do not need to answer: what kind of tablet and programme would you recommend for digital art? and is the transition from traditional use of pencils to the digital pen hard?
It is so hard getting motivated. I'm actually 9 days behind on the draw a days between projects that take more than a single day and days that I have skipped for whatever reason.
The blog helped a lot, but what did the trick was numbering everything. I can't say I drew everyday unless I have 365 pictures at the end of the year, and I label each post. Also, when I first started my blog I asked a few artists if they would check me out, and after they followed me I felt pressured to continue. It would've been dumb to be like "hey can you look at my art," then never post any after that.
I'm more than happy to answer questions! I personally use a Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet and Photoshop CS6 for my digital art. However, I started with an cheap off brand tablet and the free program GIMP. Actually, that's a lie; I originally used a computer mouse and ms paint for digital art. I've heard that the Wacom Bamboo tablets are a very good for first timers, and I would still recommend GIMP for your first drawing program. I GUESS you could illegally download photoshop but I'M TOTALLY NOT /cough cough/ the sort of person to do that. Don't get arrested/fined.
The transition from traditional pencils to digital pen is sorta tricky, but you get used to it pretty quickly. What I struggled with was texture. Digital art frustrated me for a while because it lacked the look of a traditional medium. You have to adapt, though. Some ideas are better on paper/canvas, while others are best suited for digital art.
