im a bit confused, they are rebooting voltron or something? Or are they starting fresh because after that ending i assume voltron was over?
sorry im just very confused i know they are making the comics about season 8, which is a waste because everyone knows the ending but are they going to make another voltron series?
Well - first, let’s clear up the comics controversy.
We don’t know what the storyline is or the drop date for the next comics volume.
Unless something else was released - Geekdad put out an article saying Volume 4 would take place in Season 8, like you said. However, within hours of the article’s release, Lion Forge released a statement saying they could not confirm the storyline or when the next volume would be released, only that there would be another volume.
There’s a million and a half reasons why Lion Forge put out that statement, and I went through that earlier. I won’t bore you with the details. However between initial fandom reaction - which mostly was “why would you continue this?” and “not reading,” - and Lion Forge’s own branding as an inclusive comics publisher - continuing the Season 8 storyline is not conducive to LF’s overall business strategy or DreamWorks.
Now - as for a potential sequel - at this moment, it is a conspiracy due to the marketing and merchandising efforts put forth by DreamWorks.
Recent official T-shirts show the paladins in their original lions - almost always save a few exceptions. The timeframe - where DW releases new official shirts a month and a half before a new season/project drops - coupled with designers still on DW’s payroll stopping posting new content on Twitter as of 3/6 (at which time a trailer would have taken to bolster marketing chatter), plus the continued appearances of certain VAs - mainly Josh Keaton and Kimberly Brooks, as well as Neil and AJ (who just tagged Voltron on Twitter today today) - well it just seems that either Season 8 or a sequel was to drop in late March/early April.
Nothing has been announced, however, this shirt dropped this week -
- which was 100% licensed and is in women sizes, indicating an embrace of women as VLD’s target market.
Or at the very least, merchandising knows where their money comes from.
I personally wear guy-cut shirts, but maybe that’s just me.
