8, 15, and 38 for the 40 question ask meme, please ( if you want)💝
Thank you so much for asking! :D
8. Share a snippet from one of your favorite dialogue scenes you’ve written and explain why you’re proud of it.
This is from my Clora oneshot “Reconnection,” which is set during PL3 when Clive and Flora were escaping from the Towering Pagoda. The whole thing is basically one big dialogue scene, but here’s one bit.
Luke makes a choked sound that is probably supposed to be a laugh, and looks into the corner of the room, eyes vacant...he'd tried so hard to distract her from her panic in the tunnel—now it's her turn. "I know how you feel, you know," she says quickly. "I miss my parents too. Every day. I…" Then Flora stops, flushing. She'd meant to distract him, but they were talking about his parents, not hers. She was making this all about herself…
"Tell me about them." Luke smiles tiredly towards her, chin resting on his clasped hands.
"Oh, no, never mind," stutters Flora. "We were talking about you, not me. And you've heard all of those stories before."
"I'd like to hear them again. We've already talked about myself too much for my tastes," he chuckles. "And I can tell that you're dying to talk about them."
I mainly like this scene because of the double-meanings. Flora sees that “Big Luke” is in emotional pain despite his mask, and wants to help him, but she’s coming so close to cutting his disguise to bits, asking about his parents and about his past in an effort to help him. Clive realises this, and quickly turns the topic of conversation on her, asking her about her parents. Through this, Flora feels appreciated and understood, which may be something Clive wanted, but his primary purpose was to stop talking about himself; she’s making him be far more authentic than he wanted to be, and his plan might fall apart if she pushes much harder.
15. If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?
It’s still unfinished, but I would love to watch “The Open Jar” as a movie or as an episode of FMA. It’s the longest single-plot story I’ve ever written and I’m really proud of it; I really put a lot of love and hard work into it. It would probably be a pretty short movie, but I would love to see what the music and art style would be like, and how the directors would alter the story to make it fit a movie. (Kimvy muse, please return so I can finish the fic…!)
38. Talk about a review that made your day.
Every review makes my day, honestly, and I’m so thankful for each one. Recently though, someone left a bunch of reviews on my Clora drabbles “Misery Tangled With Flowers.” I was honestly so thrilled to see that someone had liked my story so much; I had very low expectations for anyone liking that story, so getting so many positive comments on it was very thrilling. One of my favourite things about it was that this person had also read my favourite Clora fic, “10 Years,” and said that they liked how I took inspiration from it, but also wrote the characters in my own way. They also said that they’d liked Clora for a long time and were really excited to see a new story in 2020. I was just so honoured and happy to hear this; knowing that there was an older fan around and that I was able to make them happy made me feel really special.
